Should I or Shouldnt I

I dont know much about cars and i was wiring my audio into my car. I had all the wires in, and when we took them to the boot there was a massive weight in the middle of the backseat. I thought it may have been connected to something important but when i removed it i found that it was just a heavy cylinder with two brackets to bolt it down with.
My question is, did this come stock and is it safe to leave it removed?

it looks like a vibration damper. probably makes the ride seem a little firmer. is there rubber inside the cylinder that you can see?

if there's no wires connected to it, IMO its safe to leave it off.
