1991 Maxima Speedometer (turn signals)
1991 Maxima SE. I Have The 85-91 Haynes Repair Manual, but little experience working on cars.
My problem started with the speedometer quitting on me. It worked intermittently for a few days and has since stopped working for about a week. I got the repair manual but was unable to find the transaxle end of the system. So I pulled apart the dash to get to the back of the instrument panel to check the connections. I didn't find anything that looked unusual.
I found out the turn signals (front and back, both sides) stopped working since I took the dash apart. They do not light up on the dash when I move the lever. I tried reconnecting everything and neither the turn signals nor the speedometer work. The hazard lights do work. I looked in the repair manual for turn signals but wasn't able to find the workings near the steering column. I suspect the turn signal problem likely happened when I was pulling the dash apart. Something probably came loose but I can't find anything that looks suspicious. I have no idea what the speedometer problem is but I think it's on the transaxle end of the system.
Any thoughts on these two problems? Thanks.
