This is a common problem. It's the regulator that's at fault. It's very easy to replace or if you are handy and the cable is not damaged it can be fixed. I'd suggest first finding a replacement from the wreckers. You need to specify which door it's for though. A used one with motor should cost under $100. Take the door panel off by removing the Philips screws then pull the panel off starting at the bottom. There are plastic clips attached to the backside of the panel. If you pull gently they will come out in tact and can be reused.
NOTE: the screws are hidden: under the plastic cover down under the door release lever and under a plastic plug on the upper back side (toward the dash) of the handle. The plug is easy to remove using a small flat head screwdriver and prying it out. Sometimes the screws can be tight or rusty so be patient. Pry up the plastic panel holding the cigarette ash tray (there's a screw under that too)and control switches starting in the middle. There are metal clips at either end underneath. Disconnect the power cables to the switch and light and (trunk release -driver's side front door only).
Once the panel is off remove the plastic splash guard to access the 7 hex nuts that attach the regulator assembly to the inside of the door panel. Remove the power cable to the motor. Remove the two hex nuts holding the bottom of the glass (GLASS PANEL MUST BE IN THE DOWN POSITION TO GET AT THEM) Raise the window and tape it in place before removing the regulator.
To raise the window, place the palms of your hands on either side of the glass, press together and slowly raise the window. If that doesn't work, have an assistant operate the UP switch at the same time. You may have to play with the switch to free up a jammed cable (up, down, up, down). You will have to tape the INSIDE of the glass to the window frame to keep it it place. Use DUCT tape.
