Question Bose Stereo Upgrade

Hi,

I have a 1997 Maxima GLE and the Bose stereo is dieing the common death of intermittent stereo channel disconnect and display black-out. I was also disappointed that it never played CD-R discs past the first 20 minutes.

Will the Bose stereo head units from the "2000-2003 Gen. 5" Maximas fit/work in my 1997 Maxima? Does anyone know whether they play CD-R discs, or even better, MP3 files on CD-R discs?

Thanks
Dan

a 2000-03 wont fit without some mods probably but why would you want to just get an aftermarket one im sure you could get a good deal and it would be brand new and you get the mp3 ones too that play alot of songs. best buy and circuit city have deals on em all the time and sometimes free installation

You're better off getting an aftermarket headunit like sergey85 said. Fiddling with the stock bose units isn't worth it. You'll be much happier with the sound quality of an aftermarket unit also.

yeh i remember when my 98 i30 bose was not working and i wanted a new one and they wanted like 700-800 for a new one and i sure the newwer ones are evn more cause the got the 6 cd changer too built in like the pathfinder i believe. now i think you could do that into your max but yet again you would need to buy one (cheap) and have some mods but you are better going and getting anaftermarket

naw all you do is connect the radio and thats it unless you want to change your speakers or if your spearker have a short in them but if you dont have neither just conncet the new headunit. you will need a new wire harness for the the headunit but thats it.

that's all you need

Maximus681: check out onlinecarstereo.com and check out the wire harnesses section... Putting it in the aftermarket radio is simple, but you might have to get a adapter for the antenna.... Hit us back if you still need help...

Hey, I have an 06 SE-R with the bose indash 6 disc and I want to put just a little more bump in the trunk, I have 2 legacy 800 watt 8" subs in a sealed box and a Boss 600 2 ch amp.
Are the Bose units connected with RCA cables? The 6x9s in the back window are subs, just not enough punch. I want to keep all of the other 6 speakers installed. What am I looking at for connections? Any help would be appreciated, before I tear into the dash or have shop do it.

man just have a shop do it u got a new car and im sure u dont want to void warranty by blowing something cause of wiring and tear it up just go to a shop u trust that will tell you the truth or just shop aroud to see what they tell u and if u already have everything well all u need to pay is installation.

yea Im probably going to a shop but, on the off chance that the rear 2 subs are connected via RCA cable then I would just unplug and plug in my amp.
I doubt that is the case. I work offshore and I have a month to research it, so I figured someone out there has already figured out a way to do what I am trying to do. Thanks for the reply anyway!
