Wink Power antenna died

The power antenna in my '96 Maxima has not worked in the year I've had it. I don't even hear a noise from it when I power on the radio. Should I replace just the mast or the entire assembly? I posted this on the Audio forum, but it seems to be a vast wasteland over there...!

huh thats wierd actually the motor seems to be at like 115 or 150 bucks i would maybe try to see if you can get another one from a junk yard You will have to remove the trunk liner to get access and it takes a ten millimeter to remove the bracket for the antenna and a thin tool to unscrew where it comes through the fender. its alot for the mot the antenna itself(its called the antenna mast) is like 30 bucks and you can use the write up i linked you to to repplace it. but i would say either get one at a junk yard or just use a cd player. and dont forget 1996 to 1999 maximas are the same and parts can be swapped between the years.

Does the Bose head unit from 97-99 work in a 96? I read somewhere that it didn't, but not sure of validity of that.

I can get the whole unit on eBay for around $30-40. I bought one from a seller two years ago for a Taurus & it was a quality unit.

I appreciate your help!

nice good ol ebay, thasts good i think the link i gave you to replace shold work it tells you how to do it. about the bose unit i dont know it might not work im not sure about the bose but i would say u are better off getting an aftermarket cause it might cost too much and the custom work would be needed. plus its an old unit u knnow its prone fail so u will have to get another one so aftermarket i would say is your best choice i mean u get mp3,data, and graphics and other stuff, they are getting pretty cheap, sales are coming up and if you got a best buy or circuit city around your way they usually have installation for free you just buy the headunit... good luck post with results buddy

Will do, I think I'll hit Best Buy/Circuit City.

I'll let you know what happens!
