Aftermarket Radio Installation Help

Ok I have an 02 Max SE, and purchased a Pioneer DEH-P5100 unit. Installed it yesterday, there were a few wires I didnt connect to the new wiring harnesses, as well as one harness that seems to just not be used now and dangles there. I know there was one or two wires i didnt connect which were labeled amplifier, and power antenna.

Heres the issue, my tuner is primarily static but I did use the nissan antenna adapter, also how do I make my steering wheel contols functional again?

Is anyone able to give me some insight as to what I connected wrong and how to fix???

Appreciate all possible help!!!! thanks!

I also have TERRIBLE static with my aftermarket Alpine radio in my 2002 SE. I installed it ~2 weeks ago and am thinking of switching back (or getting a newer antenna).

Can anyone advise if they possibly have a solution that would save me the cost of buying a new antenna? I am going to be selling the car in a few months and don't really want to spend anymore money on it.

No HIDs. Regular headlights. I've also grounded the radio (after the initial install) to see if that resolved the problem. There is alot of static, prevelant on all stations = major/minor/am/fm...

What color wire is your amp turn on? That wire will turn on your factory amplified FM antena, ran into this exact problem with the wifes '02 just a few months before it was totalled.

She had a Kenwood, and it had 2 outputs for amplifiers, one stayed on continually when the power was on. You might be facing the same issue.

As far as retaining your SWC's, I think there is an adapter kit available IF your new deck came with an IR remote.

To AviatorWes: What's HID's have to do with the price of tea in China?

i have a nissan altima 03 which is probably the same setup as your 02. at first my radio was all static but you have to connect the all blue wire to the blue and white wire on your harness. my white/blue wire had a plug on it but i just stripped the wire and connected the two. as for the extra wire harness thats just sitting there, that for the steering wheel controls. the only way for that to work is to purchase like a 50 dollar adapter. Its called a pac swi-ps. hope this helped. if you have any other questions, id be happy to help.
