2 tons = 4,000pds. Heck it wouldn't be a sports sedan if it weighed more than that, it would be a Buick Park Avenue. But yeah that would work fine for our car even with 3 people in it.

Thats 2 tons per side. The weight raito is about 60/40. I don't know about a 2.5 but the 3.5 is about 3200 lbs. So a 2 ton rated jack stand will be fine.

The 2.5 is a bit under 3100lb curb weight. The sticker in the door is a good rule of thumb, but it does indicate max GVWR, which is max weight of the car with all fluids, passengers and luggage.

In any case the 2 ton stands will do just fine...remember that they only have to support at most half the weight of the car.

Are you crazy tdoyle? I can usually get the car balanced on one jack stand. This way I just spin the car to rotate the tires.

Anyways it is probably $10 difference to get the 3 ton, get the 3 ton, in this situation bigger is better.

3 ton are $17.99 at harborfreight.com and
6 ton are $24.99
