what's the difference between a 2.5 and a 2.5s?

I thought the 2.5s was the equivalent of the gxe. What's w/ just the 2.5? Is that an XE? It looks like it has all the same stuff that the 2.5 S has. Anyone?

also in the base there is manual mirror controls, and no A/C and remote trunk release. I haven't seen a base model, pretty much around here in chicago people go with the 2.5S and rarely see any 3.5's

Yeah, I think I would rather have the sunroof, my tint so dark, who knows if my mirror even works

The 2.5 base was only available in 2002, and it basically had no power stuff if I recall. It was a fleet vehicle mostly, and hardly any were sold.

Bunch of confusion if you ask me...Manufactures do this to confuse us all. Especially when price comparision shopping from dealer to dealer...

I have a 02 2.5S, and I dont have Auto Dimming Mirror
w/compass, but i do have Convenience package.

The convenience package is so convenient if you know what I mean.

Trying is the first step to failure.

The 2.5 (base) was basically something Nissan included so that they could say the Altima "started at 17K".....it had no power windows/locks, no air-condition, no radio/CD, no cruise-control. They probably made less than 100 or so because I doubt anyone would want to buy them.
So in reality the "base" altima is the 2.5S (without the Convenience Package)

Who would want a car like that? Talk about being boring as hell to drive.......no A/C or radio. That would be depressing to see that dash with all of those spaces for options and nothing there but plastic!
