Creaking noise :(

About last Nov-Dec. I noticed some creaking noise from inside the cabin towards the front wheels. Happens only every so often, now its becomming a little worse and noticable. Usually occurs when I just start her up in the morning. Sounds like a door creaking or putting stress.. Anyone encounter this problem? I just had it tuned up at the 10k miles mark about 3 weeks ago.

Sounds like you could be hearing an ABS self test. Does your Altima have ABS?

The ABS self test usually occurs when the car is first moved after starting... usually within the first 20-30ft of travel.

Could it possibly be the control arm? Is it both front wheels or just one side? Does it happen when the suspension cycles or just indicriminately going down the road?

I just noticed that on mine too. I got a flat, actually the sidewall blew out, cheap ass bridgestones, when I jacked the car up is made creaking noises. When I lowered the jack, it made horrible creaking and groaning noises, didn't sound quite right. Sometimes when I go over large bumps or move in the car at a stop light it creaks. You think it might be the struts. I've got 23k miles on mine and its an 05. Chris

^mine isn't that bad. But yeah mine usually occurs just within the first 20-30ft of travel after I haven't driving for along time. Should I be concerned with this? I think mine came with ABS its a 3.5SE if that helps. I will look in my glove cmpt for papers.

I had a similar noise the first winter I had the Alty. It went away and never returned. I assumed it was just some dirt or corrosion in the coil springs.

do you think it could be the struts or springs? A good excuse for me to drop my car I'll take a video tomorrow morning after it hasn't been driven for at least 10-12hrs so I can let you guys hear what im talking about. Just gotta remind myself to do it.

Ok, made a short clip of what im talking about. It becomes really apparent when I accel or stop. You will need to turn up the volume a little to hear it.

It it happens mostly when you accel or stop...it def. sounds like something needs to be lubed. Do you have a aftermarket sway bar?

I totally agree, sounds like something, a bushing maybe needs to be hit with some lubricant. It's probably more annoying than anything else.

I hbad this same problem with my car, the solution is pretty simple check your exhaust hangars. Whenever the car stops or starts or rolls i get it, because y exhaust hangars, they need to be fixed, check that. When the car is off, and the exhaust is cooled reach under the car, and try to wiggle the exhaust pipe a bit, and sree if it still makes that noise.
