Dido,

Do you have any pics of how you mounted it to be out of sight?? I haven’t been able to find a suitable place.

^^Will try and snap a pic. When I mean "out of view", I mean plain view. It is just at the very top of the inside of the windshield.

Did you ever get a chance to snap a pic?

So you still pick up radar pretty well with it mounted that high?

Guess you didnt read the directions with ur v1, mine said not to mount behind that blue tinted line on the top of windshield. From what I gather, best place to put it is right under the rear view mirror...

^^ Yeah, I wouldn’t trust my detector near as much if I had it under the tint line. I actually have to be a little more careful though because I had a visor put on the front window and it is in that high performance metallic tint. Great for keeping the sun and heat out.... not so great for letting the radar/laser in.

Just in case any of you guys are interested, I went ahead and ordered the mount last night. I'll post pics and a review after I get it in.

I wonder, u kno how bass from music will knock off the inside rear view, if this mounts on, its technically putting the weight on the inside rear view + loud music etc, you think its enough to have both drop?

Well, I have an 06 SL with the Auto-Dim mirror and it seems pretty heavy duty. I've never even noticed it vibrate while my subs are going... much less fall off. There has always been a slight rattle from the detector though and I’m hoping the new mounting position may calm that a little.

I doubt it will be an issue but I will post up and let you know if I have any issues with them dropping from the extra weight.

Alright guys, I finally got the mount installed and shot some pics real quick. So far I really like it.

My Reveiw:

My only complaint is that it makes it difficult to get to the button on my 8500x50 and I tend to hide mine when I park in a private place. However, it does get rid of the suction cups so it makes the detector a little less noticeable.
Since the weight of the detector still rides on the aluminum bracket that it came with, it is still a little shakey when my subs are turned up... but not bad at all. I put a little bit of felt on the bottom of the mirror to cushion the vibration when it hits so its not noticeable at all.
It took a few minutes to get the angle right where it sat the way I wanted it to and pointed downward but it was easy work. It work best if you put the mount all the way to the back of the mirror post(closer to the window rather than the mirror) and attach the aluminum bracket to the front of the mount in order to push the detector forward more and give room for it to be adjust to the correct angle. I also changed the bend point on the aluminum bracket as to give the detector more of a drop and pull it back toward the mirror a little more; this made all the difference in the world (better angle and no more vibrations) and took all of 2 minutes. Just be sure to use a back-up. The mount is heavy duty metal, not weak at all and is pretty thick.
I would recommend this to anyone. They make it for the V1 and any Escort/Belc Detectors. Let me know what yall think.

So to sum it up:

Product cost: 39.95+ $7 shipping= $46.95
<>Product Page Link<>

What came in the package:
1.Two piece metal mount.
2.Four screws
3.Alan wrench for the screws(very impressed that this was included)
4.Instructions for install along with a friendly thank you letter.
5.And of course, an invoice.

Pros:
+Solid mount
+No suction cups on the front glass
+No vibration on the front glass
+Adjustable to preference
+Mount is black and not noticeable
+Brings the detector a little closer to the driver, easy to adjust or mute.
+Allowed me to run the power wire through the mounting bracket just like I had it run before/no wire mess.
+Moves detector in front of mirror and allows for better detection from the rear of the car.

Cons:
-If not adjusted correctly the detector can point upwards very easily (detrimental to laser detection.)
-Makes it more difficult to push the button in order to remove the detector (since the button is behind the mirror.)
-Uses the aluminum mount that came with your detector which is weak enough to still allow for vibration.

My Rating= +5

What I got in the Package (Along with Install instructions):

Size Comparison to my Escort:

All the parts together:

Mounted:

From the front(The flash makes it show up ALOT more, the detector is not anywhere near as noticeable as it is in the pic.):

looks ok, NOW, your going to have a problem...if its going to be sun for a while, the radar will heat up and not work correctly (Thats why mines in under my visor away from the sun). From the pictures looks like yours is pointed in the air, when its suppose to point down so it can intersect with the laser when the police will shoot his radar...which is at the front bumper.

Not that it matters.... You have a fraction of a second to slow down before the cop gets your speed. So, you're as good as gone if a cop uses laser on you.

Hey John,

Actually NOW it is completely out of the sun because it is further back inside the car And my tinted visor and UV Shield on the front glass blocks it from coming close to it. It's much better off now that it was before with the traditional suction cup mount on the windshield. It may not be AS shielded as yours on your visor, but every review I have ever read has said that the visor is a bad place to mount it... its just too high.

Also, it is actually sitting level (I know, because I adjusted with a level until it read correctly and actually angled it down just a tad. Just to make sure I got good laser reception. (and yes.. of course I checked if the ground was level)

The sun isn’t an issue anyway…I park in an underground garage during the day for work and in my garage when I get home… no extended sun exposure anyway.
