Salavage Title?

Listen,

I posted my car on Ebay 4 Days ago. Today in the morning i recieved an e-mail from Ebay that they cancelled my listing, because they runned history check on my car and they said it is unclear. I registered on Carfax, looked up the history and here is what i got "SALVAGE TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED
NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE TITLE ISSUED
" , so how the f**k i recived title that says "CLEAN", i dont understand, what kind of bull is that? right now its 29460K miles on it, my mother was the second owner of that car? Any help?

Car is here - http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/nissan-cars-trucks-sale/227452-2005-nissan-altima-2-5s-sale.html

You can actually get a clean title if it was salvaged in another state and it didn't transfer over. Happened to me with my Saturn; when I moved from CA to AZ it came up clean on the title, even thought the CA title clearly had "salvaged" typed right on it, they don't enter it manually.

Well thanks a lot man, atleast it explains something. How about the warranty? On the Carfax it says "Warranty is avoided" and how about all that stuff about "Not Actual Milege thing"? Can i still sell the car as a clean title?
Man i`m so new with all that stuff, i just dont know what to do...

You can try selling it on the street and not say anything(you usually get more money that way, too) but dealerships will not touch it because they can't re-sell it, or warranty it. There's really no way of knowing exactly what damage the car suffered and what was replaced and by who, etc.

The mileage thing sounds pretty shady, too. Just try and sell it private party and use the money as a down payment.

So i guess, i better sell it in the places like local news paper or just put "For Sale" sign on it? But still, some of those people they might ask for the VIN number and than they will loose their interest, unles they will test drive it, cause there is nothing wrong with that car and the warranty would expire in the upcoming 6,000 miles anyway.
Its just sux man, my old man he bought few altimas that were slightly damaged and he fixed them up tried to make some extra buck by working hard extra hours after work and now when he try selling them, people they becomes so suspicious about the cars. Statrt saying all this crap like is there are any mechanicall problems or transmission and all that s**it, when there is absoultely nothing wrong with a car, its all fixed, it feels and it drives like a brand new car, or the car that you get from dealership, you can even get a f***ng free test drive...

Anyway Bro, thanks for you help, if you got any other sugestions, bring them on...

Cars don't get salvaged for no reason bud. Don't get so pissed when you know they were bought cheap and "feels and drives like a brand new car". If they are fixed so well why do you need to get rid of it so badly? Also you should know that no warranty will devalue a ride pretty good. That warranty should have another 30k on it but because of wahtever shady happend before youn owned it, it dosent. You probally have an odometer rollback going too. I wouldn't touch the damn thing. I suggest if you have to sell you are going to have to price around edmunds trade in price - you may get lucky and some bites on that one.

that sux. my friend went through a similar problem. his dad traded in a truck when he bought his new truck and it had a clean title. he got a call back saying they were going to sue him because they found that it was actually a salvaged title which he didn't know about, he bought the truck used. they finally got it settled but it took a while.

if you bought the Alty cheap, then it you shouldn't be losing too much money when you sell it privately. just list it in the paper and say that it has a salvaged title. people may lose interest but if you don't post it, it may come back later and hurt you even more then what you might lose on the car. good luck selling it. also, i was wondering why i saw so many alty's in one of the pics until i read your later post.

Thanks dude for any sugestions you made. Well If you read a bit carefully, i wrote that "my old man bought few of them to make some extra buck" thats why i`m trying to get rid of it. If you wouldnt touch a damn thing, thats your own opinion i really dont give damn about it, you can drive your Altima with a Clean title, get over 36k`s and than nissan wont give a f**ck about your cars title... its just sux that my father worked so hard on them, and than i found out they are with salvaged history and plus he didnt pay a cheap price for them, they were damaged but he payed for them like a clean title car, because on the auto auction they were going under green line. I`m not selling it so expensive, i only want 12k - 13k for 05 Altima which is in its best condition right now. One of the struts was little stiff so we got a brand new one. Alignment was done to that car last week and four new tires were installed. So you think if you`ll buy the car with clean title it`l be better than the one with salvage title? What ever man, i`m not arguing over here...

To wizard8873: Thanks for the comment man. I wouldnt try to hide this cars history, it is abvious that it can hurt me even more in the future...

The powertrain warranty is 6yrs 60k on the Altima. For whatever the "green line" at the auto auction really means, if that is supposed to garentee a clean title or? If it is then I would contact the acution house and tell them they sold cars without due dillagance and you have suffered monitary loss and now need compenstaion of some sort. You can contact the Attorney General of your state, the car dealer license board (don't know if that exists), and other trade groups to help you recoup. If it was bought as it from the auction the vins should have been checked before any bid was placed. You will have a hard time selling these Altis since Katrina and other floods created a big wave of damaged/salvaged cars. Just hope you find a person who won't check but they will still find it salvaged when they register it.

Thanks for cearing out Nissan Warranty, now i can see that it is even a biger problem than i thought...
Yesterday i called them up and i told them of what happened and i said i will file a complaint and she responded, that she dont care they have cases backed up for the next two years...
By the way my father never checked VIN numbers of the cars, never until now...

Well i have a title for it and it says "Clear" it will be no trouble if you register it anywere on the East Coast, but not in OHIO, Colorado and few other states.
