Car Accident, My poor Altima... Totaled?

I was hit on the passenger side, while making a left at a stop sign a speeding Honda Pilot slammed into me, luckily everyone in the car was fine. No airbags in my car were deployed, the Honda however did experience some front end damage and had the airbag deploy. The driver of that vehicle seemed fine at the first impact but as soon as the cops arrived "suffered" an injury, should be a fun lawsuit.

And as you can see back door is fine but as you can tell the whole front isn't looking to good. The front window is broken in that corner as well as the door dented up a little bit, but most of all my whole front passenger wheel is bent in, and I am unaware of the damage under the car as of now. The front hood is a little out of line but I'm sure those hinges should be easy to replace and straighten. The front passenger light plastic is a little cracked, I heard that was expensive as well. The glove compartment when I was emptying it out was troublesome to close so I gave up hoping that is not an indication of more damage. Only good thing is my mirror was previously broken on that same side and some other damage from before I purchased the car that I was about to replace soon, looks like it'll be getting fixed a little sooner than expected.

Great car, hoping it isn't totaled what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for the help.

It doesn't look to good. It all depends on the insurance company and what the appraiser says in the end. If the frame is bent it is definitely totaled. Just my 2 Cents. Sorry to here that pal!

Its hard to say since there's a lot of space between the frame and the surface of the fender. But looking at the A pillar, it looks like its bent so I'm gonna say its totalled.

Good luck.

Actually most likely it'll be my fault, I had the stop sign, and of course he stated that I "ran" the sign and he had the right of way with no sign, luckily the insurance company isn't going to take the time out of fixing my car or stating it totaled while the investigation is going on. Unfortunately, I had the accident in an incorporated village (their own bad mood cops, all I was asked for was the license and insurance card, and no other information was asked for) They towed the car and I am unable to retrieve the accident report and file it until Monday. Should have the insurance information on what they think by Wednesday though, hopefully It won't be totaled because I don't know how much the car is worth but after installing the D3 a little over a month ago, I don't wanna have to lose it, bad enough having a rent a car for now. And to find another SL, will take a little while because I doubt I'll get that much for the car.

yea sorry man it doesnt look good. my gf just hit a 86 bronco going 2-3mph and ripped off her front bumper only and it came out to just under $3000 in damages to her Chevy Equinox, so lets just say that with the low value of our cars it doesnt look to great. If they total the car you will be able to take your d3 out. you wont have to give it up.

well I'm hoping just for a repair would hate to look for another car, and get nothing back for this one that would be totaled.

Forgot to ask some of your opinions on the value. Do you know that if it is totaled how much the value of the car will be?
It is the 2005 2.5SL Altima, stocked with the heated leather seats and such. The car before I purchased it without my knowledge had been in an accident on that same side but passenger side, so there was damage to that side previously. Obviously I would have to buy another car, and would not be able to probably find a deal on a car if they are going to give me nothing for it.

So basically I'm asking if you would fight for the totaled deal, or take it if they will fix it?

Unfortunately, with the damage done to the front pillar, they will more than likely total the vehicle. There will also be damage to the front axle, control arm, and possibly the frame...You are also right in the assumption that they will most likely find you at fault. They will call it failure to yield, and it doesn't matter if the other guy was speeding or not.

Sorry to see it happen, and wish you the best of luck.

Despite all the hell I get from my wife about playing with my car, the single MOST MODIFIED part of the car is the passenger side, rear window interior. It changes all the time depending upon what my stepdaughter has decided to smudge on there...

Pick up a current NADA book and look it up. They(Insurance) prolly use the average retail # to determine the value. IDK if the previous damage will effect that #. If you owe $15,000 and its booking for $14,000...you will be out $1000. Unless you carry the gap insurance which pays the diff on situations like this. Good luck!

Well, hope the value will be high enough to pick up another Altima SL.
