Intake Valve Timing Control Solenoid Valve

Can anyone suggest what makes these go bad?
Last month I was getting a 0011 code....long story short I ended up replacing the cam position sensor and the Intake valve timing control solenoid valve (bank 1 if I remember correctly). I did the spark plugs (factory plugs) at the same time.
Now, a month later I am getting a 0021 code which I just read, is the same part for the other bank.
Wow, I am kind or frustrated. My Altima has 153000 Kms. Oil is always changed every 5000k. My oil level is probably down as I am a few hundred Kms away from a needing a change.
Any ideas? It seems strange to me that they would both go.
Thanks.

Reset the light and see if it comes back. I have a 0011 pop up every 6-7 months when I'm close to my oil change.

Sounds like a plan. I reset the code this morning. Happy to see the light is gone. I will do an oil change tomorrow and see what happens. This is the process that I went through with the 0011 code but it always came back on after about 100kms after resetting.

I changed the oil, reset the code and it has not come back.
Hopefully that's all that was going on.
