2006 Nissan Altima starting problem

I just bought a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S. I love the car but after I drive the car and shut it off and go to restart it it does not turnover until the 2-3 time. It seems like when the car is cold it starts right up but after driving it the one time and trying to restart it again it just seems like it is not turning over like it should. I brought it to a Nissan dealer for service on this and they said they had to reprogram the key and it should be all set but it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions? This is my first Altima and I love the car but it is SO embarrasing when I go to start it and it does not want to start. What should I do?

This is currently happening to my altima as well. I found that the fuel pump is not getting enough pressure to push the gas forward. Try turing your car into auxilary mode for about 5 seconds. This will allow your fuel pump to pressurize and then start the car. This has been working for me so give it a shot. It's a cheaper solution than replacing the fuel pump.

Thank you

Hello thank you for your quick reply. I will try it in the auxilary mode. I am actually still under warranty (only have 31,000 miles on it) so I am going to bring it back to the dealer and have them fix it. I have only had the car for a few weeks and don't feel I should have to pay for any repairs so I will bring the car back and let them deal with it. Now that I have an idea what is wrong with it I will keep that in back of my mind and I will see if they fix it. Thank you so much.

No the car does not smoke. I just got it a few weeks ago. Just a rough start. Hopefully the dealer can fix it for me. Nothing is worst then getting in a nice car and it no wanting to start. Thanks for your reply.

How do you go into auxiliary mode?

Yes I am guessing that is what he means. Turn it to the right but not all the way where it starts up. I will try it out tomorrow to see if it works. I am putting it in the shop on Tuesday. Go Red Sox go... I am a big fan too. I live in Mass. too. I hope Remdawg is okay....

He's right.
Just turn the key to charge the fuel system and injectors.
It should turn over for you if you wait 3-5 seconds.

Yes auxilary mode is when you turn your key to the on position (two clicks) and it should pressurize everything for you. Is your check engine light on by any chance?
