Have to remember that Spike is on a rock in the middle of a really big pond, and many of the retailers that are available on the mainland are not there.
To everyone else,
I am thinking about buying enough of the components to make these kits for anyone who is interested. Couple of questions though.
Do you want it a basic manual kit like the one listed here...Simple on off?
Do you want it to come on with the key fob/door?
Do you want both of above combined(door, key fob, switch)?
Post up here or send me a PM.
Well I don't know why but I live in another volcanic stone in the middle
of the other big pond and we have Pep Boys & Autozone.
A much easier place to tap into the dome light wires is in the drivers side a-piller, its way easier than getting upside down and digging under the dash for the wires near the bcm. Thats where i tapped it for my audi drl and puddle light circut.
Not necessarily easier if you know which wires you are after. They originate at the BCM anyways, so tapping them there is not that big a deal. A good portion of this kit is a full photo writeup, and the fact that the main harness is completely preassembled...

That is a slight misnomer. It will come on with the door open or the keyfob. Wiring it into the manually operated dome circuit(the dome has 2 seperate circuits) would be something entirely different.

Sorry Spike, but where did you think that they ran the wire...LMAO

I personally don't have them in the rear, but it is only a matter of wire and a little time to put them back there as well. Let me look at possible mounting points on the seats, and I'll make a decision on whether or not to make that an optional kit.
BTW, I got a few things researched last night as well...
If necessary, the fuse panel cover is the best place to mount a switch if there are no blanks near the dimmer. Cost on that piece is under $4 from ABC Nissan.
Instead of using the normal Scotchlocks(which I personally detest), I think I will supply any kits with what is called a 'Posi-Tap'. They are more expensive than Scotchlocks, but more reliable.
I have another Q I know you have done it but anychance you can make a hood led strip light but that will bright the hole hood white with a switch in the engine bay?
For now im in for the light
yea, it seems like you are really putting up a fight
I will pre-pay if that can get the ball rolling on my set. I have wanted to do something like this for a while, but really lack the patience, which is where you step in
Crossed mine. I just dont wanna run a wire all tht way lol
coat hanger......
when I ran 14g to my tweets it worked wonderfully, pull the pannel by the dead petal get a bright flashlight and shine it up so when you look down through the hole in where the pillar cover was you can see the light, aim for the light and done.
I would rather run that wire a 100 times then to try and get 4 sets of 14G throught an already stuffed door boot.
looks really nice. since People kept kicking my cathodes and breaking them, I moved them up and outta the way under the rear seats and the dash. it works out well. but mine are tied to the dome. and I didn't install a switch.. kinda regreting that.
what happen to your car? yeah, bill did a good job on getting everything together. props to him.
Well I was gonna fix and re-paint my rear bmper. But then i found a rust hole in my passanger floorboard that needed to be fixed. They ripped out a 1foot by 2foot section of that . Then the re-painted my front bumper and my drivers door. Then replacing my door handle and fog stalks. All for $1500.....not badd but its not what i wanted to do. I have not seen my car in a week
