Replacing Rack N Pinion/steering Column

I WAS THINKING ABOUT REPLACING THE RACK AND PINION ON THE CAR. SHE HAS 166K AND THE STEERING IS NOT THE SAME FROM WHEN I FIRST GOT HER. WONDERING IF I SHOULD JUST REPLACE THE SEALS OR THE WHOLE DAM THING?

ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT, IM TRYING TO GET THE FEED BACK I USE TO HAVE.

IMO, if you are going to go through all the trouble of getting the rack out, you may as well replace the whole thing. After 160k plus, there is going to be some wear and tear on it anyway.

I would have to do a little research to be sure, but IIRC, the whole subframe will have to be dropped.

Just go to RockAuto.com and look up the rack and pinion setup. Has the entire unit and good prices too. I have used them in the past and the parts are great, and the prices and service are even better! Honestly I know I wont buy from a Stealership....Gl, and keep us posted. Btw, was your steering just starting to feel a lil loose or something?

First post. Get that PDF. Look at the bottom of page 629. In the centre column starts the infor you need. It gives you book time to take it apart and the cost to replace it from the dealer. This is a nice piece of info to save BTW....

EDIT: Its called the front steering assembly too
