Center Console (Gear Shifter) light blown?

Hello Everyone,

Car Specs:

2002 Altima 3.5SE V6:

I have a problem with my center console (lights alongside the gear shift); as circled on the the attached image below

It has gone out (the only part not working in the car). Is this a fuse issue or is it a bulb that I can change?

If so, how do I change the Fuse or Bulb myself without hurting anything?

Thanks in advance

A....

It is an incandescent bulb. You have to take up the center console part that surrounds the shifter....then you have to remove the shifter plate. It is held in place by plastic tabs made onto the shifter. To remove the plate, you have to gently pry at the plate starting from the passenger side. Once you get it loose from there, you simply lift it off, but dont pull it too far, the light's wire is attached. Twist the plastic housing at the end of the bottom of the plate and the bulb will come out. Pull it free from the wire harness and replace it. Installation is the reverse...

First part of this will show you how to remove the outer bezel around the shifter...
http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/200...ml#post3781082

After that, you can remove the shift knob and pull straight up on the part that houses the letters for the gear selector. The bulb is in a little twist in socket, and is a #74.

Thank you guys so much for this input and suggestions; I will try this . bt2580 can I get this #74 bulb at my regular car parts store or is it a special order?

Thanks again

omg i had to replace mines a while back. dont try and replace it with a white led its gonna be a light green color

But yea it was a real pain in the but to do because you dont get much play with the wire to the socket that holds the bulb. If my memory serves me right..it was a type 74 bulb? and i ordered my bulb from like a web site..paid like 5-7 dollars.

there is a seperate peice that has the P R N D 3 2 1 on it. each letter/ number has a small circular yellow sticker on the back side. Remove these stickers and it should solve your green problem.

Why do you even bother? The guy asked a legitimate question about where he might be able to find the light bulb he needed.

Thought about giving this a try, same color just nice and bright.

There's also this website that has like 15 different types of #74 bulbs (or so they claim), all with varying types of intensity and color.

Opinions?
