ive got a small stering wheel shake while driving. had the tires rotated and balanced about 1500 miles ago, so thats not the problem. im guessing some type of bushings. ive got 150k miles now. i noticed the shake increases slightly while braking.

Check your outer tie rods. I was getting a vibration back and forth in the steering while driving and it was my left outer tie rod--had both left and right replaced today. Took one from behind without any lube. I was already in for an oil change and since they have to do an alignment there after I got it all done. Hurts like hell, but the car drives as smooth as butter.
im getting a shake in the brake and steering wheel. Also, I have been hearing a weird kind of whining noise coming from the front left tire area esepcially from 35-60mph... i tried to get it into the mechanic but he was on vacation. It seems to be driving a little funky and its bothering the hell out of me because it definitely doesnt seem right. Do you think the tie rods could have anything to do with it?

the rotors shouldnt effect normal non braking driving though. should they. even when not braking theres a small shake in the wheel.
You pads will actually ride along the surface of the rotor at all times.
One more thing to check before you start tearing into shit: check the wheels for true-ness. Now I can hear the rumblings about aluminum wheels not bending but hear me out from an experience I had. My dad has a Tundra and was noticing a shake. He took the truck and had the tires replaced (they were pretty old) and an alignment done. Still did it. Brought it to me, I replaced the rotors, pads and lubed the undercarriage. Still did it. Before I looked a the suspension I decided to rotate the tires front to back (don't ask me why, just did) and it was noticeably different. I popped the wheels off and took them to a buddy I know that owns a tire place (Dad lives in a different town) and ran the wheels on the balancer without the tires and found one wheel that was 1/4 inch off on the inside lip. Tire balanced good and the bend was not noticeable with the tire on. We replaced the wheel and the problem was solved. Just throwin it out there. Its fairly easy to check and may save you some time and $$.
Keep us posted.
