For those of you who wonder what all this crap is about, I picked up a leather rear seat for this ingrate's car...and I am taking my sweet ass time getting it to him
It is just fine in the back of the minivan
fixed it for ya
and gene, how big is that hood bump? it doesn't look all that big from the pictures

I need to detail mine as well. Maybe this weekend I'll get to it. Right now the only things that I'm waiting to get done are a pulley and tune. I finally retrieved my ECU code on Sat and didn't find it on UPREV's matrix. So hopefully they'll be able to take care of it and I'll be done until I can get cams etc..

So I've been trying to fab up a "scoop" for my Berk. Here's the concept - which I had installed but it got ripped off in some road work - with no resonation boxes installed, there's the hole that leads to the fender well area where a CAI would sit. I took some house ventilation tubing (the rigid stuff) and ran it down to the fender well liner. On the liner, I installed one of those dryer ducts that you stick on the outside of the house. This one was steel and I had the open end facing the front of the car so I would get a "ram air" effect and hopefully feed cooler air into the engine bay. My theory was that I would give cooler air to the intake while avoiding the water hazards of a CAI. I planned on making a wall to separate the WAI from the rest of the engine. Without the separation wall, it seemed to work well, but then I discovered some ground clearance issues the hard way. Tore out the entire liner and demolished the ductwork. Starting over...
Any ideas for improvement? Remember, this is a concept so it's ugly now, but hopefully in the future it'll be pretty and very functional.

What is the issue with your HVAC? I am having some second thoughts about giving up the easy repair of the manual system, so I may just put up some pieces of the auto system for sale...
@CHiP...ouch, that hurts.
it just seems to have a mind of its own, a/c is pretty much non existent, if i'm lucky i'll get a tiny fart of lukewarm air coming out of the vents for oh 30 seconds.
as far as i can tell the heat is ok, it was HOT in the car the other day so that's a good sign.
if its an expensive fix i am just going to leave it, i don't care to spend $2k on replacing big pieces of the system (compressor or whatever it might be)

My ac just went out, I'm assuming I need a recharge.
On a seperate note, as some of you may or may or may not know, my car is throwing p1402, I thought my Pre cats were deteriorating, but when I put my springs on, my buddy got under the car to look at the precats and said there was a wire he jiggled? The next day my SES light didn't come on, and ever since then it comes on some times and stays off other times, is the code just a lose wire or a bad censor? As I said before when I took the EGR apart there were no metal flakes in it, so now I'm thinking it's that wire

whats this air stuff yall are talking about? is that some sort of sorcery or something? i have 4 ****ing car's and only one of them has a/c (2 of them just need a belt hooked up though)
and gene, how big is that hood bump? it doesn't look all that big from the pictures
Exactly. It's about 1.5" high, which is enough for me. I wanted it to blend in almost like the GS-T/GSX hood bump that they have. To look natural. But once I cut the bracing and hood off it will give enough clearance for the manifold to sit comfortably.

sweet! I look forward to seeing it completed.
and I haven't forgot about the vinyl is you are still interested. my buddy got a new job and is has to travel 5hrs one way ever couple days for training so we haven't had a chance to figure out how much is left
After using this (without the cardboard template), I figured that the bottom end would act as a venturi and suck the hot air out of the engine bay, past the filter. My next attempt was the dryer duct with the opening facing forward so as I was driving, the air would be forced into the tube. I also utilized larger tubing.
Unfortunately, it was demolished before I took pics. So, soon it'll be model #3. But before I fab that, I want to see what I'm forgetting...
Still interested. But moving forward with other projects until you can give me a number.
yea, no problem. just letting you know I haven't forgot about ya. why don't you shoot me ur cell number so I can text you, that will be quicker and easier for me
^^^ I thought about doing something along those lines. Except I don't have fogs so I was thinking of running some sort of flexible tubing from the fog light opening up to the air filter. Just something to bring more cooler fresh air right next to the air filter. Doubt it would do much but couldn't hurt.
yeah i would NOT use that stuff....id use pvc before i used that....the trick to intake's is keeping the lines smooth, no sharp bend's or anything....otherwise it causes turbulance and loses its efficency....at the end of the day you could reverse engineer the intake....
and this is coming from the guy who's built exhausts out of 3" fence post's
I'm not too worried about how smooth it is or the bends since it isn't actually part of the intake tract. Just something to force some cooler air into the engine bay. That stuff is flexible but very rigid and keeps it's shape and that's what I'm after. Something easy to manipulate and install and remove whenever I need to.
