Ignition Kill Switch?

Has anyone ever installed one? I was just thinking about when someone broke into my car and jacked my stereo. I'm just thankful they didn't steal the car. But I still get worried that one day this could happen. I've put to much heart into my car for someone to come along and rape it. If this has been done, some tips would be appreciated. And maybe a write-up needs to be made. I know none of you want to wake up and find your car missing.

The only thing I have heard of (other than the OE chipped key/immobilizer) would be an A/M alarm system that does it.

Find the main power wire to the ignition is the best place, then splice in some wiring and a on/off switch. You could also do the neutral saftey switch if your car is an auto. Mount the switch somewhere not noticeable and that's about it. Not sure as to where you can get just a regular flip switch as I haven't personally looked for one.

Just as easy - fuel pump kill switch....If they DO manage to get your car started without the rf transponder - they won't get very far at all. Plus - it shouldn't throw any codes (someone may have to correct me if I'm wrong)?

You can slice in-line with the fuel pump or disconnect the fuse and run a new fuse between the two poles and a kill switch..

If you want to be clever you buy a magnetic switch (reed). Place a magnet over a little square, switch is on. If no magnet there, switch is off. You'd have to run a relay with it as they normally cannot handle much power... But I looked into doing it. It'd be real simple.

heres one of my favorite places to look for switches: switches, etc.

- and I always check out a radio shack on one of my projects.

LOL...my wife had one of those in her car when i started dating her, i hated it. in the winter it took forever to start the car cause the relay was goin bad i think.

I just bypassed it...and kept it stuck to the dash as a theft deterrent...or a grim reminder of how her life sucked prior to me.
