Ok so I'm finally getting ready to install my DDM HIDs (35w 6000k H1) in my 3rd gen and have a question about the install (specifically, modding of the dustcaps). I saw a lot of people first widened the stock hole for the fitting of the HID harness, and second drilling a secondary hole to reinsert the stock flag terminals back into the dustcap.
Is this necessary?
I feel like it would be easier to cut the male terminals for the flag terminals off and pull them outside of the dustcap, and then reapply another set of the same type, but I dont see many that did it this way. Am I missing something???
As long as the connections are being made, then you're good to go.
Doing the secondary tap for the HID's in the dustcap is the cleanest appearance in my opinion, and the stock harness isn't being tampered with so switching back to halogens would be a simple plug in. But if you're ok with hacking the stock connectors off then that's all that matters. As long as you can keep it clean looking under the hood.

im sure there is a link for this but im not sure where to look....... so my question is, is there a way to make my 3rd gen "2-step". Y'all probably think it sounds stupid but ive seen a video of an altima doing it and it sounds too clean..
Hi I'm Thinking About Buying This 05 Nissan Altima 2.5S Automatic With 188K Miles Wondering Is it a Steal Only Paying 2,000 Dollars For It. I Need some opinions the car is in fair-good condition i think it still have the original engine and transmission & no check engine lights of any sort. do you think this is a good buy or should i pass it up for the high mileage ?... ive heard about the thought of newer cars with high mileage is better then old cars with low mileage. i just need some opinions on this cuz i've heard and seen some people altimas go pass 250,000+ Miles no problem... do you think this altima can make the push ?
I'd buy it, then check the cam positioning sensor to see if its been replaced, and if it hasn't then I'd replace that and the crank positioning sensor.
The front and passenger motor mounts might be bad as well so those might need replacing.
That sounds like a lot of money ima have to put into the car.. I'm a teenager I can't afford all of them repairs this soon
You'll be spending around $200 or less for the parts I mentioned.
BUT, even without those parts you can still drive it of course. Fixing the things I mentioned are just to be safe, and even with the bad sensors you can still drive it.
Do you think that 2005 nissan altimas or very reliable and easy to maintain?.. Or am I gonna run into a lot of problems.. Cuz this is my first foreign car.. I had a 1995 ford escort & my current car a 1999 grand am that I will be selling soon/ trading in for this car do you think it's worth it?..

I'd say it's worth it, but I don't know much about the car other than what you've mentioned. If you can get someone more knowledgeable about car buying and what to lookout for, do so to your advantage.
I'm asking what do you suggest I check since I figured you guys own nissans altimas and know more about them.. Any problem area in these cars I should be worried about and checking?
When you check under the hood look for any fluid leaks, radiator, brake, oil, trans. Check the battery and terminals you don't want to see corrosion residues.
Check the under hood plate for any heat damage... If your not a mechanic those are the basic things to check...

Start the car, put it in drive and if it vibrates vigorously then it needs at least 2 motor mounts. Other than that would be to check the cam sensor but idk anything else.
