The guys got it right. From my understanding if you are planning on boosting them go with low compression. This will also let you run a higher psi. If you are strictly staying NA then go with high compression. If you are unsure on what to do, may or may not boost and absolutely need an engine soon then go with stock. This way you can safely boost if you ever wanted to. I wouldn't recommend boosting a high compression engine.

for the record, my car is just as fast as it was before with stock compression as it now with 8.8 CR. Based on running a few friends, its about the damn same. Im sure i lost a little bit of power, but it isnt enough to notice.

Been proven before, that on the vq, compression doesnt really change your hp/tq. Guys on the Z forums do NA builds with higher compression, they dont gain any hp. main reason for building it is so you can rev higer safely.

If you are going to turbo it, just go 9-9.5 CR. But if all you want is 300whp, then just buy another stock block and spray it, you will get that and be safe, and it will be way cheaper. But if you are really set on building it for N/A, then just buy a stroker kit but you are gonna spend like 5k on the short block alone, and it still wont be as fast as a 125-150 shot sprayed stock block, which you can have for like 3.8k less w/ the nitrous setup lol and be 400whp. my .02

If all you want is 300whp then you dont need to even build the block.

buy a used low mileage block and call it a day then if you are happy with what you have. Maybe do some cams/valve springs and a true 3" exhaust and you should be damn near 300whp.

check your PCV valve, go from 5w-30 to 5w-40 and install a catch can. You'll burn less oil

Trust me, i know the feeling. my old block went through a quart of oil every 550 miles, and that was all highway driving when i actually monitored how much i was loosing. It was worse in the city lol.

Have a pic of your headers? I went to DNA Motoring and they dont make headers for the 3.5 Altima, only the 2.4....
On there website the sell headers for the 350Z, but they are only $190.00 and there is more work to make headers for the 350Z than for the Altima.

Im sure we would love to see. There arent many headers for the fwd VQ so something new like this will have people curious about them. Before today I never heard of them....for this car, but for the Sentra, 2.4 Altima, 350Z, and I think the 240.....
