'02 altima 3.5 SE - HID Headlights

My factory HID headlights do not look like they're bright anymore and I cant really see anything when it's turned on. Does anyone know what's wrong with it? If it's the lightbulbs then how do I know what kind I need to buy to replace? Also, could it be the Ballast? I don't know anything about HID... Thanks in advance for any replies.

turn on your headlights and go look at them and see if they both turn on.

hm thats strange to me as far as one hid being brighter than another. prob be easier just to go to ddmtuning.com and order a new hid kit for $40 than you get ballasts and bulbs

Oem hid

If you indeed have OEM HID, you don't go to DDM crap!. You can buy used OEM ballasts and ignitors at a decent price. To be honest and not to be mean or anything but if your not sure about the bulb it requires or how to replace it, take your car to a reputable mechanic and have them check out the problem. The best way to access the bulb is to remove the front bumper then remove the entire headlight pod. There's not much room around that area. Good luck.

Replace your bulbs with quality OE bulbs. the ballasts Nissan uses, (Matsushita) do not like aftermarket bulbs. Unlike halogen bulbs that just die HID bulbs will continuously lose lumens until the electrodes in the bulb are to worn out for the ballast to ignite the bulb.

Sorry I don't have a better picture but does the back of your headlight look like this?. Notice the white-ish cover on the left, does your cap look just like it?.

Ok I was just checking. The headlight you see there is a regular halogen light. I'm thinking if you bought a ballast and igniter off eBay you wouldn't be paying full price for one and you could replace each piece to find what the problem is. Bulbs are kind of expensive thought

As long as the bulbs are being lit the ballast and ignitor are not the problem.
