brake and battery light on?

another issue with the my recently purchased maxima turned on my car and drove off to work all of a sudden i noticed that my brake light and battery light were lit up on my dash and ever since they have not turned off any suggestions on what the issue might be?

i drive an altima, but i had a similar issue happen to me and it was a bad alternator. get it checked out asap or your might end up stranded like i did.

thanx alot man it turned out the alternator was crap i drove to autozone and got it checked out turns out my car had been running on my pure optima battery .... but then when i drove off from autozone BOOM i got stranded hahaha car died out. so replaced it and now everything is fine lights turned off and car is running fine =]
