There goes the Wheel Bearing!!!

Well, I thought that my summer tires were worn, and making a noise that sounded like the muffler. SO i decided to throw on my winter tires, and what do ya know........noise still there. Well ruling out the Tires made me realize that it was more than likely a wheel bearing. So i took it to Nissan to confirm, and yep, i was right. The right rear wheel bearing is shot. $300 including parts & labour. They have to order the part, none in stock, as they say it's not common that the Rear Bearings go. Has anyone else had any issues, or am i one of the few lucky ones?

my passenger front went this summer and from the sounds of it my driver front is going to... being lowered 2" and driving on shitty roads with potholes at 75mph=blown bearings and hubs

thats a little steep imo, but it is the stealership price... find a local mechanic!

Replace it yourself! There was a DIY thread on here not too long ago with info on how to replace the rear bearings yourself.

Say 2 hours max, and you'll easily cut the cost in half.
I think its recommended you replace the entire hub?

the rear is much easier than the front iirc. i think you can buy the rears already packed and sealed as a single unit (bearing & hub) but in the front they need to be pressed together with a good amount of force, you would have to use a hydraulic press to make sure the hub gets mated with the bearing correctly...

Hey if ts your fronts yu don't need a press and you also don't need to take off the steering knuckle just buy this. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

It's called fwd bearing adapter.you can remove and install fwd bearing without taking steering knuckle off

It would be cheaper if you were to doall the work than having your mechanic do it.
