I can confirm also that the switch is specific to the se-r. If you get the standard $25 part, it won't work. Unfortunately, the correct switch is more like $65-70 for the se-r.

Correct connection:

Thank you. Now is this part just the oil pressure switch? Or is it the sensor? Any part numbers or official name so I can call the dealer?

It's called oil pressure switch. It controls the warning light for low pressure and the oil pressure gauge above the stereo.
Original Part Number: 25070CD000
Updated Part Number: 25070CD00A
Aftermarket Part Number: PS561
$83 at autozone
$68 at courtesyparts
$63 at nissanpartszone
$60 at rockauto

I just want to get a little clarification here. Do we need to replace the oil pressure sensor or the oil pressure switch, or are they the same part?
...and is the location described by 4DRZ accurate? I want to take care of this problem ASAP so I'm making sure it is something I can do myself, and that I am looking for the proper part.

Thanks again guys.

Just one part, located just above oil filter by the passenger side. You need a deep well socket to replace it, 24mm I think??

Seconded. Does this 0 to 120 and going haywire issue need a sensor or switch?

Also, mine was doing that and now it just chills at 0. Doesn't even move.

These guys are all right on this issue.

The Switch and Sensor from my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong) are the same thing.

The switch/sensor/whatever you want to call it looks like the 3-pin one above. I purchased mine from Adavance Auto Parts online(I got the BWD brand part), with a coupon code I paid ~$55 shipped to my door.

Here's the part on RockAuto:

I JUST changed mine on Sunday (2/5/12), my dad and I removed my pass side wheel, removed the oil filter (was doing an oil change anyway, since we knew we wanted to change this part out), I was under the car he was in the wheel well. We were able to get the 24mm deep socket onto the sensor (after unplugging it) and get it out with ease. Put some teflon tape on the threads of the new one, tightened it up all the way, put my drain plug back in, new filter on, filled her up with some brand new Castrol GTX 5w-30 fully synthetic, and my baby purr's like a kitten with my gauge above 0 all the time and no more red oil pressure light on the dash!

It's pretty easy to do once you have the right tools and an extra hand never hurts, but if you're alone it's still an easy 20 minute job. Just bring a flashlight with you so you can be sure to see the sensor to get the socket on it, the pass. drive shaft is in your line of sight.

So that $55 part is part # PS417 on the site, and it will work with a 2005 Altima SE-R? I'm finally going to get around to doing this now.

Yup, that's the one.

This is the EXACT one I ordered and put on my car:

Buy BWD/Intermotor Switch - Oil Pressure S4328 at Advance Auto Parts

But yes, the one at Rock Auto is the same thing, but different brand and cheaper (google for "RockAuto Coupon Code" you should be able to get a few dollar's off! )

Let us know how it goes once you get it installed!

No problem, I just know how annoying it was to gather all the information for this when I was looking into it. Just trying to pass on what I learned as easily and much as possible.

Just picked up my switch from Auto Zone for $83.99. Hopefully this will solve my problem. Wish me luck...

Ok...my baby has been repaired. The install wasn't too bad. I had a difficult time disconnecting the harness due to the tight space, but I managed get it off after a couple of attempts. The only other issue I had was getting the new switch in. I couldn't see the hole so I had to get it in by feel alone (insert bad sex joke here).

Oh...& I completely forgot about oil pouring out upon removing the old switch, so I made a pretty big mess. The clean up took longer than removing the old switch & installing the new one. Thanks again for all of the excellent info guys.
