Water pooling Rt. Rear Seat Foot Well- 2008 Altima SL

I was giving my 2008 Altima SL its spring clean (last week) and noticed water under the right rear passenger foot mat.

I did not think much about it, but this morning I noticed a huge puddle in the same spot! It took a bunch of towels and a shop-vac to get it dry.

We had rain yesterday and I did not drive the car.

Anybody have a similar issues w/ water leaks or possible solutions?

I'm thinking a trip to the dealer.

Thanks
Doug

since its still under warranty, take it to the dealer. thats the best to do.

however, if you did not drove the car on rain, you must have parked the car under the rain. im guessing the rubber stripping thing around the door might got faulty.even tho there is a water channel top of the roof, water drips through door openings. that rubber strip prevents from water coming into the car. maybe have a quick visual check before you go to dealership. so you are aware.

thanks man.

+1 on going to the dealer, I will also convey my experience with my former car

I had this same problem, ends up the sunroof drains were clogged. Most if not all sunroofs are not waterproof, but instead there are channels/gutters inside the roof that direct the water to drain tubes. In my Volvo the rear drains were clogged with small leaves and debris that made it into the roof opening when the glass was open and decomposed in the tubes. I used compressed air to blow the drains clear and never had the "leak" again. If possible remove the wet carpet and thoroughly dry everything (or make sure the dealer does this) or you may end with mold/mildew in the carpet padding.

Angry

I just had this problem approximately a month ago. My Altima sat in the rain and soaked a box I had in my backseat footwell on the drivers side.

I took the car to the dealer, and they found that my windshield wasnt sealed properly at the factory, and so water was coming in behind the drivers side A Pillar. It completely soaked the carpeting on the drivers side (front and back).

The dealer ended up replacing my windshield and removing my entire interior so they could replace the carpet and padding.

If clogged gutters are the issue I hope the service guy will show me what he does so I can do it myself if it happens again.

Your problem should be a clogged sunroof drain or an unsealed windshield. Either way, you should request to have your carpet replaced due to future mold issues. I didnt have to ask my dealer to replace the carpeting. They did it automatically.

I was without my altima for a week, but at least they paid for my rental car.

All fixed

Got the car back in one day...

the right side drain hose for the sun roof had come loose. They reconnected it. and we'll see what happens the next time it rains!

Did they do anything as far as the water soaked carpet and padding?
