Auto Door lock

Ok! I just bought a 2007 Altima 2.5s, and while I'm doing a test drive from the dealer last week, as soon as i put it in drive to drive off, all the doors lock and i even freakout cos i never had a car that does that. Fast forward to today when i picked it up, >>> it doesn't do that anymore?? does anyone know how to enable it again? Maybe they took the battrey out, and i dont have the owners manual in the car when i bought it and this not a nissan dealer. I enable the horn on lock. there is no auto window up.
Thanks

Try this: it's for a Sentra but it might work for you.

The automatic door locks (LOCK) function can be switched ON/OFF by performing the following operation.
1. Close all doors (door switch OFF).
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Within 20 seconds of turning the ignition switch ON, press and hold the door lock and unlock switch to the
LOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
4. The switching is completed when the hazard lamps blink.

OFF → ON : 2 blinks
ON → OFF : 1 blink

5. The ignition switch must be turned OFF and ON again between each setting change.

The 2007 Altima doesnt have auto locks, it was introduced in the 2009 model. The salesman likely pushed the button from his side.

If that's the case then there are two causes,

A button was pressed OR an aftermarket part is installed.

So the sales guy may have pressed the button, or you bumped it on the remote or on the door.

Some people's remote starts (Vital's for example) lock once you get to a certain speed or put it into Drive. My remote start doesn't, but some do. Alternatively, there could be the locking module by K&P but that doesn't explain why it isn't happening any more.

My hypothesis is that either you accidentally pressed the button unknowingly, or the sales guy did it (which he may have done it accidentally as well).

This is taken from the FSM of a 2007 Altima:

AUTO DOOR LOCK FUNCTION
When all doors are locked, ignition switch is in OFF position and key switch is OFF (Intelligent Key is not
inserted in key slot), doors are unlocked with door request switch
When BCM does not receive the following signals within 60 seconds, all doors are locked.
• Door switch is ON (door is opened)
• Door is locked
• Ignition switch is ON (ignition switch is pressed)
• Key switch is ON (Intelligent Key is inserted in key slot)
Auto door lock mode can be changed by “AUTO LOCK SET” mode in “WORK SUPPORT”. Refer to DLK-33,
"INTELLIGENT KEY : CONSULT-III Function (BCM - INTELLIGENT KEY)".

It's not new news that the 07-08 4th gen Altima doesn't have the auto lock feature.

The feature you are describing, faja is when you lock your car, and then turn it on, I believe it unlocks and beeps. Or perhaps when you push the unlock button on your fob and if the doors aren't opened, or ignition isn't turned on, the car locks them automatically (this is to prevent accidental button pressing in your pocket).

The car does not have an auto locking feature as you put it in drive or when it reaches a certain speed. This feature was added in the 2009 model Altima.

I wasn't speeding, i was trying to pull out from the parking lot @ 10-15 mph. maybe i did it? but the FOB was in it's location and not in my pocket.

I'm not sure kemzo

You may have bumped the button on the door or something, but like I keep saying, it is not a feature on the 2007-2008 model so it had to be environmental like pressing the button the fob or on the door. Thats pretty much it. Unless anyone else has something to say about it.

my car is set automatically to lock when i hit 20mph. i read somewhere in the manual that you can reset it or something but i didnt pay too much mind into it because i am fine with that feature. try looking in the manual and see if there is anything about that. the manual is always your best friend

THANK YOU DSG! I was thinking no one was going to back me up that this feature is only in the 2009+. lol People were just posting incorrect theories and calling them facts. Ugh!

Straight from the owners manual. 15 and 20mph are pretty close on the display, not hard to get confused on when it locks compared to the MPH shown.

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS
c All doors will be locked automatically when
the vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH (24 km/
h).
c All the doors will unlock automatically when
the ignition switch is placed in the OFF
position.
