Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I have been planning to do a puddle light install on the underside of the car. And I was wondering if I can mount the puddle lights in the pictured area. I would be using the supplied plastic brackets that come with the puddle light kit and use self-tapping metal screw.
My only concern is if I can make holes in this area. I have seen guys that install underbody lights on their car. But will this leave holes in my floor board our anything??
Thanks in advance guys!!

Can't answer your question, but have you thought about using some double sided tape? Some of 3M's would hold up almost permanently.
Yeah I had thought about that. But with the underbody being some rough and having lots of gunk embedded into it. I just don't think that would work. Also, with it freezing out right now I don’t think the tape would be able to stick at its full potential.
I hope you know that rocks will tear your LED cover apart. And try and use small screws so they don't go into the car's interior. And when u take them out, refill it with super glue

Perhaps. But I'm sure they will hold up from a couple of little rocks dinging around. Yeah I was thinking if I ever had to take them out, then I would fill them in with some glue. But I think it will be okay to screw them up there because there is one of those push clips in the picture, and those area good 3/4 to an inch long into the body of the car.
Are you using the ones Nissan sells, or some others? The car's plastic side skirts look like they'd be the perfect place for this type of light, if the light was specifically made to mount to them. I'm curious what the Nissan ones look like.

No I don't have the nissan ones. I have thought about how theirs look but could never find anything about them. And our side skirts have no lip at all to them. We would nearly a full inch of flat lip to drill and insert the led pods. And we maybe have 1/4-1/2 inch. I thought about just drilling these holes in the side skirts, but when I went investigating, I realized it's not feasible.
I am using the VIP Puddle light kit that many other people have used. The Acura and Lexus guys seem to love them, as they have like 2-3 write up's on how to install them...
My original idea was to make my own lip to mount the led's in. I cut out acrylic pieces and drilled a hole in it. Then placed the pods in the hole, but these turned out to not be a good idea because this stuff wants nothing to do with being cut, drilled, or screwed into. I broke two of these pieces before finally getting 3 finished ones. You can see the progression of the idea in the picture. I'm now going to use the mounting bracket on the left side. This one will most likely be the more reliable and sturdy.
