Autokits-X Carbon Fiber Mirror Covers

Well I tried to get something going with the CF fenders but it didn't seem to be popular. I have moved on to a new project now. CF Mirror covers for the 3.5/2.5 SL blinker Mirrors. Being that this is the most desired mirror and many people upgrade from the non folding mirror to the folding mirror with blinker we can start off with that.

I have already spoke to Autokits-X on producing them. They currently make CF mirror covers for Infiniti's, Nissan 370z's and Mitsubishi Evo X. They got 100% great feedback on them. They are normally priced out at $200 plus $20 shipping. Autokits-X quoted "don't worry, if we make a group buy with 15+orders we can sell them for much less than $200". That was pulled directly out of my email. Not sure how they will go about this but I have offered my spare OEM covers that are unpainted. I was going to have them skinned with CF in the past but will donate them for a good cause if they can be mass produced into a mold.

SOOO who would be on board?

Also checked the part numbers on the Altima coupe and they share the same part number as the sedans so this will be opened up to them as well. This will be posted on nicoclub to get more people involved. All updating and information will be posted here.

Update: 11/9/12
Spoke with Jaime from Autokits-X tonight on my way home from work. He is rather excited on working with this project and is looking to make this happen super fast with a few weeks. I got super sick pricing for us provided that we hit the goals. Jaime was estimating that shipping costs could be anywhere from $10 - $20 in the states. I also confirmed that these will be a cover that goes on top of the painted portion for a simpler and easier install. Reduces the risk of breaking the OEM painted cover. I think we can get 20 peeps involved between the 2 sites. To get things started Jaime will let me know when to start sending him money. You can be involved with $50 down and then pay the rest when items are ready to go out. You can even pay $100 and then either pay the difference plus shipping or if we get 30 just the shipping.
Pre-order Pricing
15+ people $150 + shipping
20+ people $120 + shipping
30+ people $100 + shipping

Pricing will go up to $200 after a determined date once project is completed.

Any chance the mounting base can be modified to fit the 3rd gen? I know there are the middle east mirrors that fit the 3rd gen. My thinking is that if the can be done, we should have no problem making this happen. I would definently be down....TODAY!

I will ask how the approach will be but I am almost certain it will be a exclusive piece and not the entire body and or base. On the 3.5s 4th gen mirror that painted piece around the blinker pops out. I am assuming that what will be produced unless its a cover that will snap and 3M itself on top like the ebay chrome covers that are out. As I find out more I will let you know if this can be opened to the 3rd Gen family.

Still in the early stages. No time frame as of yet. The faster people want to get involved and are willing to put partial payment down at any given time during the process (which will be required) the closer we can get to a time frame. There is no way of saying how they will go on as of yet until they start the project and make a concept.
