I have several reasons I like wrecking yards besides the good prices.

If you can pull the part yourself you can see how the assembly goes together. It's like experimenting on someone else's car rather than your own. I've discovered several "gotcha points" that would have messed me up on my own vehicle had I not had the opportunity to pull apart the assembly on the donor car. It's like a practice session for the real deal.

You can usually take with you any various fasteners, clips, nuts etc. that come off the car as you pull the part. The yards don't want these and don't charge you for it. Now you have spares as you work on your car. If you end up not needing them just toss them when you are done. I hate is when your are "one clip short" of finishing the job because you broke or lost a small item.

I have never had any issues with aftermarket mirrors, but I could just be lucky. The ones I usually buy are the $40 ones on ebay so I think it's a good value vs $250 for an OEM, but it's all preference. All mirrors I have gotten were powered as well. No quality issues experienced.

You could even replace both mirrors to match the color if you choose to not have them painted lol. Nothing wrong with black mirrors in my opinion
Whatever you do, don't pay anyone more than $50 to install mirrors. It takes no more than a half hour to install mirrors and that's for someone who hasn't done it before.

I dont know any wrecking yards in NYC would allow me to pick apart the cars. They would do it themselves.

That's interesting ... I've always live out West, and I have never seen a yard that would keep you from doing this ... in fact they like it when you do, saves them the trouble!

There's always something to learn!

I found this on ebay. It seems like the same color as mine.

Mine altima is 2010 with Ocean Gray color. Can anybody confirm the mirror cap is the same color? and Will this mirror (taken from 2007) fit on my 2010?
