Does 20% Window Tint affect Navigation, Radio Reception?

I thinking about getting some Solar Guard tint in my 07 Altima at 20%. The guy told me that metallic tints affect navigation systems and radio reception. I'm only using a stick on Garmin and I don't listen to radio anymore. But I am worried about the reception for the door / trunk remote.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Solar Guard Metallic - $170 w/ Lifetime Warranty
Solar Guard Ceramic - $350 w/ Lifetime Warranty

It's slight, but you won't notice it. I have Marathon on my vehicle, 45% Front and 5% Rear. For the radio, its slight, but its HARDLY noticeable.

Yeah I have 20% on my 09 Altima and it hasn't distorted my reception at all for my satellite radio nor my GPS unit. However, my radio has poor reception only because my power wire from my amp is not ran correctly, but I'm like you I don't listen to the local stations anyway so I'm good.

It all depends on what type of film they use. You want to stick to a non-metallic film, or hybrid film. I have 35% front 2 windows and then 20% all around the back using a Johnson Hybrid film. It's the metallic layers in the film that can cause you to lose signal reception with gps, radio and cell. There are a couple videos on youtube demonstrating this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQlKa2GzdTw

Think of it this way what if your car broke down and it was pouring rain outside or snowing do you want to be fighting reception problems to get a call out?

Another good brand is Madico.

I would avoid the chain location like Ziebart however. I live in the midwest and got my wife's suv done at a smaller private shop for $189. Loved their work so I had mine done for $160 as well.

Do you plan on having your windsheild tinted? If not then it won't affect the GPS you have stuck to it.

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that I'm not even going to tint the fronts. Only the rear window and the rear sides.

Got 20% on my 09 and it affects my Mobile GPS reception. My phone has a hard time getting a lock. Noticed it after I got my tints in. I cant comment on the effects on a GPS head unit.

Yes, but the aliens will no longer be able to track you so it's a good trade off.
