takeda intake sputter when sitting for long periods

I'm new to this site still n was wondering if anyone else had this problem...my rpms sit at about 900-1000 at idle n when I rev... The intake sputters....after I drive for a while b start up again its fine....only happens when I leave it overnight or after work (long periods)....

Is this a serious problem or can it be fixed? The first time the filter was a but loose.... So I tightened it.. Then its still happening....I have an 08 2.5 sedan

Do you mean that your engine is idling erratically? If it is, check for a vacuum leak.

It almost sounds like the filter is trying to suck but is struggling...

Did you try resetting your ECU? Disconnect the battery for a minute?

Not since I installed a few days ago...
It just started a couple days ago.... Perhaps clamps on the throttle are loose? I'm just worried it will affect the engine in the long run

Oh you just installed it? then for sure it's something to do with the intake itself. Take it apart and check for leaks, then install again tightly

I think if it were a leak it would do it all the time.... Only happens when car is completely cold?

You put everything back together? You put the MAF sensor back, right?

Check the MAF connection. Make sure it's tight.

Remove the negative cable and wait for a few minutes (1-2), and then plug it back in. Start the car and listens for leaks.

If all else fails, reinstall your stock intake and see if it happens as well.

Did you recently change your oil btw?

A better question would be "was the MAF installed facing the correct direction?"

Jus check maf orientation n tightened clamps....well see what happens...I suspect part of it is because it rubs against a soft foam covering the battery mount... But I guess time will tell . when I plugged in a scan tool it said mixture is too rich... Maybe I installed it wrong? Or that foam rubbing against the filter is the problem...

If it's too rich that means there is more gas than air. Are you sure there is nothing obstructing the filter or pipe?
