Slightly off topic and I don't know anything about tires. Currently have 7000 miles on the original tires.

Recently one of my tires got a slow leak so I took it back to the dealer and they removed a screw from the tire and patched the hole. When I asked about a replacement tire they said they didn't have any in stock and could not find any in the area. They suggested that if I wanted a replacement tire I go to a specialty tire store and have them order me one. The only reason I want a replacement tire is because I am going on vacation this weekend to Gattlinburg, TN (about 600 miles away) and I don't want to worry about wheather or not the patch they put on is going to hold. Should I try to find one replacement tire or am I worrying to much???

Also the TPMS system works great I never would have known about the bad tire until it was flat were it not for the TPMS system. Although I was expecting it to tell me which tire was low. It only has a warning light to let you know one of your tires is low and then you have to manually check your self.

My '07 came with a full size spare. Did your dealer mention this? I think the hybrid has a temp spare, though. Take a peek under your trunk floor.

I wouldn't worry about the patch holding up too much. The patch (if that's what they used - typically in my store it's a plugging system, but this still applies) is sealed with an epoxy that's much, much stronger than the rubber itself.

Patches work great, we got slow leaks in two of our Turanzas, so we took them to the BStone dealership and they patched them for free. What these guys did was take the tirs off the rims, sanded them on the inside bearly, then patch them up. They said they would hold until we needed new tires.

You get the full sized spare with the VDC option. For some insane reason the SL's got the 16in. boring (but still nice) rims. I am going to look for some of the SE-R rims for my ride.

I don't recall you having a spinout, but the car is VERY RARELY to blame for that.

Thanks for the info, that makes me feel better. They did refer to it as a plug and not a patch. But you should have seen this 2 inch long screw they pulled out of my tire. I just knew I was going to have to buy a new tire. And I wasn't sure if the plugging system they use would hold or not.

I guess I have been lucky up to now, I had never had any problems with nails, screws or glass puncturing a tire before. But around here they have road contruction on nearly every major highway that I need to drive on.

Also I have the 2.5 S and it does not come with a full size spare. But that makes me wonder if a full size spare will fit in the trunk of the 2.5. Since the 3.5 Altima's come with a full size spare.

Aside from the hybrid, it looks like all trim levels of the Altima come with a full sized spare on Canadian models. I guess this is great for those who scratch one rim on a curb or get a flat and are uncomfortable with the patch job. I checked and there is no TPMS, so you would have to have the sensor moved.
