Life of your brake pads will depend on your driving habits and driving conditions. My Camry has 100,000 miles on it and still has the original brake pads and rotors. Most of my miles are highway so I don't use them as much as some one doing mostly city driving.
Why not go for that. 8k on the car, I'd at least ask. If your dealership has a somewhat decent service rep, they'll take care of that issue whether or not it's covered in the TSB. I not sure how reliable the info on this site is, but it listed a TSB for squeaky brakes. NTB08-057 - Nissanhelp.com
A TSB is a technical service bulletin... it is a FIX released by Nissan for any vehicle that has the same symptoms as listed in the TSB. So if you car displays these symptoms described by Nissan, you should take your car in and the techs will know exactly how to fix it. TSB's are fixed FREE under warranty. They will replace the hardware, calipers, pads and turn the rotors if necessary. The symptoms are:
Description: 2007-2008 NISSAN ALTIMA; FRONT BRAKE NOISE AT SLOW SPEEDS
Squeal/Squeak noise from front brakes:
• While moving forward
• With very light brake application (pedal pressure)
• After 10-15 minutes of driving (“hot” brakes)
• At speeds less than 10MPH
• While traveling straight or turning.
I went to the dealership one day because I thought my tranny fluid was low. They told me it was fine but asked me if the car has ever been in an accident. I told them yes, about a month or 2 after i bought it. The mechanic told me, "oh then your not covered under warranty." Is this true?
squeal here as well. I forgot to mention went I went to get an oil change. but this TSB is only good under 12k miles? mine just hit 13k. stupid squeal only happens during low speeds with light breaking, as described in TSB, does not bother me much but sometimes annoying

Mine happens the first few stops until the brakes get heated up. So if she's been sitting at least an hour.. there will be a squeal. First thing in the morning - squeal. I will ask when I go to the dealer about engine cover/shield/whatever and to get a tpms replaced.. Oh, if I didn't love this car.

Hey, I have an 08 3.5sl and at around the 3600 mile mark my brakes would start to squeek ever slightly and I took it as mist on my brake pads. but this noise started to get worse and also, if driving and suddenly i would slam on the brakes a nasty grinding sound would be heard. I called the dealer just recently (my car now had 9700 miles on it), took my car and they went with me to reproduce the sound. Sure enough my altima did not fail me as she started to squeel like a stuck pig. they told me the hardware kit for the brakes had to be replaced and that nissan was aware of a problem. the resurfaced the four rotors, replaced all brake pads and it was all covered under warranty. This was done at the Nissan stealership in Harlingen, Texas.
No offense, but I'd be made it Nissan resurfaced virtually new rotors instead of replacing them. IF they just skimmed a little off, you may be OK, if not they'll warp in short order.

i have an 07 altima with 13k miles and recently went to get an oil change. I told them about my brakes caused they were squeaking badly and it didnt seem to go away. I thought that they would blame me for the brakes saying that it was wear and tear. They told me that alot of people were having that problem so they were going to fix it for free since they've got alot of complaints. I was without my car for most of the day but got my calipers and brake pads changed
