I would prefer that the car do not allow anyone to shift to D when the key is not inside..that way you can just leave your car (on or off) without worrying someone driving your car off..

true story I dont know if this is relevant but I went to the beach and I was getting dry and i put my key thingy on the roof i dont remmeber if it was on or not BUT i took off with the key still on the roof and i dont know how or what but like 15 min later I heard what I thought was someone throwing a rock at my car than come to realise yeeeeeeeeeah...... the key was not inside the car so i pulled into a parking lot to find the key in the little gap between the trunk and the window lucky for me lol

if the key is in your pocket you can lock the doors from the outside... just unlock it when you get back to the car... i do it occasionally if i run into a store for one specific item.

One thing that is DUMB is that you can lock your keys in the trunk. The prox sensors see the key as inside the car and you can't just hit the trunk latch. This is more disconcerting that someone stealing my car because I put my keys in my gym bag and can walk up the car and can open the trunk put my bag in and I am SOL.

I love when people assume stuff without reading the OWNERS MANUAL, you cannot lock the intelligent key in the trunk of a locked car. the system senses the key is in the trunk and beeps at you and automatically re-opens the trunk once you close it. page 3-12 of your manual.
