CVT lag?

Hey guys when i floor it from a dead stop in my 2.5 the cvt seems to lag or something. it goes up to 2000rpms real fast but then immediately drops back down very low and i get a very sluggish start. this even happens in manual mode. does any one else have this issue? and does anyone know how to fix it? also i have a weapon-r WAI installed i don't know if that might be causing it

It's the way CVT works...and having the 2.5L the lull is even more noticeable than on the 3.5L

I can't say I have any lag issues. I don't know if it is because of the V6 or not, but I can, and this isn't for any other purpose but to show lack of lag, spin the tires a fair amount with the traction control off from a dead stop. If I were you, and I had lag from a stop, I would take it in and ask the dealer "Wtf?".

There is a sure shot to fix this. Buy a manual transmission Altima.

I've had the low RPM herky jerk, but after going from the OEM wheels to the 18" winter wheels & tires, the shudder/herky jerk has disappeared. Maybe having some more weight/momentum at the wheel eased up the super torque or whatever it was doing... weird.

I have it too, i think its the computer and the fact its a CVT. I wanna find someone who does pcm work like they have for domestic cars but i cant find anyone. my friend brian works for PCM4less.com but its all domestics even though its all OBD2 now. the lag issue would be solved by getting a manual car but i agree something should be re-tuned.

Does yours have the TCS? If so, try turning it off. The TCS will decrease power if you loose traction i.e. peeling out.

Nah, wheel hopping isn't the problem here. Otherwise yeah I agree with you. Man these cars need an LSD like you wouldn't believe.

I just wasn't sure cause I'm not familiar with the 2.5, don't know how powerfull (err powerless) it is.

+1 on the LSD though. I saw in the nismo catalog they have them for 350, 200, and some early model alty's. If I ever get my car upwards of 400hp, I'll be looking into the lsd--I know my dsm will need one soon

I'm not even modding my car any straight-line performance-wise, and I'd STILL put one on there. This car has WAY too much wheel hop and slippage just trying to do something as simple as accelerate into traffic.
