TPMS Components

I just purchased steel wheels for winter use on my 09 coupe and 4 tpms from the dealer. I had to purchase the nuts separately and the parts person also sold me 4 grommets which he said are for the nuts. I checked out my service manual and it makes no mention of a grommet being installed with the nut, the only grommet is on the sensor stem itself and it comes with the sensor. So does the nut need this grommet or do I just install the nut and be done with it?

Thanks,

Gary

Just my 2 cents but why would you go through that hassle? Just run your steel rims without the sensors, check you pressure regularly as in the winter, the tpms tend to set off the dash light quite a bit. The light on the dash is a good reminder to check your pressure at each fill up or each month etc.

Go get some money back.

I do not want the yellow idiot light to be illuminated in the dash all winter, hence the reason for the sensors in my winter wheels. I also check the tire pressures in both my cars at least twice a month, especially in winter with the wide range of temperatures we have here.

You do know that you'll have to go to the dealership and have the new TPMS reset to each set of wheels every winter/spring right? And it's not a cheap thing to do...I'm sure they'll charge you at least $50 each time to do that...IMO it's not worth it to have a yellow light on the dash over the winter...a black piece of tape would do nicely for me...

I purchased one ot Ateq's Quickset devices so I don't have to go back to the dealership twice a year. Does anybody have an answer to my question?

Thanks,

Gary
