So, my 3.5SE is closing in on 12K miles after about 11 months and, as such, I would expect the car to settle in and, perhaps, squeak a little.
But there has been a very strange noise emanating from the area of the glove box that I can't figure out. It's not quite a squeak -- it's more of a rattle and it's getting louder.
I guess the best way to describe the sound it to imagine two marbles hitting each other.
What's odd is that the sound isn't always present (though it is increasing). It might be heard when traveling on a smooth surface -- or on a rough road. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme of reason to when you hear it.
And yes, I've emptied the contents of my glove compartment so it's nothing that's 'in' the car.
I'm bringing the car to the dealer (again) to have this checked out but I thought I would check to see if anyone else has ever experienced this type of noise in their coupe.
Thanks-

PLEASE post if you figure it out or the dealership does. I have the exact same thing and it is driving me nuts. I tried taking most of the interior apart, but no dice. I also think it is something in the suspension, but it sounds like it is on the inside. PLEASE POST~!

I'm glad I'm not alone (though it does suck for us all to have this issue).
I'll probably be bringing my coupe into the dealer within the next couple of weeks as I have to have some scheduled maintenance done as well.
Is your sound also coming primarily from the glove box area?
I swear today is sounded like the sound 'rolled' towards the driver's side of the dash.
Same exact thing. Certain turns and bumps sounds like something is moving around. Mine almost sounds like it is in the headliner, but could be the glove box or anywhere else for that matter. Who knows....
Just another quick update. I don't think the sound is related to the glove box clip. After checking it out over the weekend, I'm beginning to think the sound is coming from the bottom of the windshield -- or perhaps even the speaker housing, though the sounds do seem to be more centrally located.
The sounds are progressively getting worse so I'm setting up an appointment with my dealer..

Chalk it up to a faulty latch design. Mine has weight in it which prevents the rattle.
Does anyone notice a rattle from the Engine on acceleration though?
recently I have been noticing it.
Thats something thats been around since 2002 on the Maxima's and Altimas. I think it was concluded that it was just valve chatter. Its a good indication that you may have burned some oil, the more oil you have the quieter the noise. Thats actually the same sound you can hear if you've got a pretty open exhaust, ie: a custom exhaust and Y-pipe. you hear rythmic popping that flows with the exhaust note. (sounds like you're gargling for lack of a better illustration, lol)

I've got the same problem in my 09 Coupe 3.5SE. I picked up the car 2 weeks ago. It has 1200km on the car now, i heard it when i test drove the car, but thought it was just something in the car. I've found where the rattle is coming from, it's coming from above just to the right of where th map lights are. If you apply the slightest pressure with your finger, it stops. As soon as you remove your hand, it starts again. It will even rattle while at a stop light. The dealer is going to be droping the roof liner and replacing the Map Light console to see if it solves the problem. I'll let you guys know what happens!
Well, I brought my car in and the dealer found (and heard) nothing. But since it's gotten cold here in NJ, the sound has all but disappeared. The dealership noted the issue and suggested I bring the car back in the spring if/when the sound reappears.
Interesting that your sound is coming from the roof liner... When I hear it again, I'll apply pressure and see if that fixes it.
