I am looking at cars, and am wondering what the difference is between the Maxima and Altima? Is it more room with the Maxima?
What competitor's car would you consider to be close to the Altima?
I was looking at a Toyota Avalon, but have read they are having problems with all their oil leaking out of a tube and destroying people's engines and also some problems with lunging transmissions, so I think I will look elsewhere besides the Avalon.
Is the Avalon compable to the Maxima in size/quality?
I think it'll also depend on what gen Maxima as well. The 04-08 Maxima's are VERY similar. I thought they shared the same chassis? Don't know anything about the 09s except that they're pretty comfy.
Rear leg room in the Altima is a big reason why I bought the Altima. I have 2 boys. One is 11 so it's just a few years before he turns into a long lanky teenager. It's very comfortable back there too. We drive from Mpls to Rapid City, SD and do fine.
Trunk is HUGE. If one of your boys act up, you can easily stick him in the trunk.

Yeah, 09 to 09, I'd go Maxima hands down. But 06 Altima to 08 Maxima, I'm definitely on the Alti boat. Seems more sporty, get a lot of the same stuff, same size and cost is less.
The Maxima is a larger luxury sedan than the Altima, There is plenty of leg space in the rear seats and the trunk is a good size. While most compare the Maxima to the Camry and Accord...they don't compare. I think the Acura TL is the best comparison for the Maxima. Especially because of the CVT transmission which makes the drive much smoother and more powerful than either the Accord or Camry.
