Total: $ 27,082.00

I paid: $ 23,302.00

Appearance protection $ 499.00

$500 for a bottle of Turtle Wax. Some dealers are a piece of work.

BEFORE I order my car I am having a talk with the sales manager and telling him not to add ANY of their money makers to my car or I seek another dealership. I may have to special order the car so I can catch it before they add their money making products.

With all do respect, you can do that will your salesperson. Remember, you only care about the out the door price (OTD), so when you negotiate with one or more dealers, and I hope at least two, just tell them what your willing to pay for.

When I perchased my Frontier the sales person could not make the deal I wanted without going to the sales manager first. When I was looking at the Hyundai Sonata about a year ago the salesman had to go get the sales manager to even be able to answer my questions.

I seriously doubt that any salesman has the wheel base to tell the prep people what they can and cannot put on a car when it arrives. Judging from what I have seen on most lots the majority if not all cars have the money makers added to them.

I dont think any sales are done without the sales managers approval. You mentioned about going to the service manager, not the sales manager.

Thank you for the correction. I always proof read my posts before entering them, but I certainly missed that one.

I am sure that the sales manager has to sign off on every sale, but I don't think he has to approve the negotiated price unless it is lower than what he has pre-approved. If that is not the case then a salesman has very little purpose within the organization.

I like the good old days when you could order a car with the accessories you wanted on it and the salesman knew his product and could usually qoute you a price without going to the sales manager.

Salespersons not without their purpose. They works for the manager. They show you the cars, explain features, go test drive with you, help you to select the best model and trim for your needs, etc. Price negotiation is always between you and the dealership which the manager is the authorized person. The salesperson just doing the leg work and paper work. In bigger dealership, there may be a quite a few customers negotiating at any time. Without the salespersons as the middle man, the manager can't handle at all.

That's a heck of a markup in comparison to the Nissan parts website of $41.

I remember those days too, when the salesman handled the sale. The last time I purchased a new car before this year, was 1999. The salesmen had a big role then through the entire transaction, but since 1999 I’ve purchased private party used cars.
On both of the new Nissan’s I purchased this year, the salesman was more of an assistant. All of the negotiation, pricing, options, etc. was completely handled by the sales manager. The “salesman” didn’t even know the pricing or really care, he just did his best to answer questions, find information, show the cars, and go on the test drive. When it was time for the numbers, prices, options it was all the sales manager. At the second dealership there was a main manager that the Sales Manager had to clear the deal with, so it was a little like the sales manager was a salesman, but I think that was just a ploy they use. At the first dealership, the same Sales Manager worked the deal and approved or disapproved the deal himself with no one else to go to. At both dealers the salesman was pretty much on the sidelines once we selected the car we wanted. I get the feeling the salespeople come and go, so they just have their the sales manager handle the more complicated stuff.

The problem I have with the sales people is that they don't stay long enough at one dealership to even be able to answer my questions. When I told most of the sales people I would not be buying for several months they just blew me off without offering any help at all.

When I purchase a car I do a lot of looking and a lot of studying before I make up my mind. I realize the sales person only cares about a sales and not a whit about me the customer. I ALWAYS tell them when I approach them that if they get a live customer while they are talking to me to feel free to drop me like a hot potato.

Hello Everybody,
Need some help..I'm getting this deal.. Any opinions? I have to finalize it by tomorrow i.e 10/17. I feel good based on True Car Corp perks but i'm open to opinions.
2013 Nissan Altima cayenne red 2.5 SL with 7" Touch screen Nav /Tech Pack + Splash Guards + Illum Kick Plate + Mats + Rear Decklid spoiler + External Ground Lights
MSRP $31,140 -- Invoice $28,980. I've it for $26,976 + 7% Tax + Reg - Edmunds $500 rebate = $28,640. I can finance it for 2.00% 60 months. Extended Warranty - Dealer is asking for 7yr 120K = $1707. Any thoughts will help me. Thanks in advance.

That's an awesome deal based on the car alone (2.5SL +tech, spoiler, splash guards, kick plates) at $26k and change). I thought i knocked the cover off the ball at $27,130 for the same car without tech, splash guards or kickplates. I'm going to go yell at me dealer...let me know if you actually get the deal tomorrow. I can't comment on the warranty etc, makes me wonder if they're banking on raking you on that to burry the options costs it seems that they're throwing in.

$2k under invoice sounds too good to be true. However if you can get such a deal, I'd run to the dealership right now.
