Did you try driving without the radio on to see if it still does it. I have had the same issue on my Frontier from time to time especially when on a station with a weaker signal.
I did not. I had passengers so I didn't want to point out any flaws while showing off the new car.
I will do some testing later today.

Took my 2013 Altima into the dealer. After speaking with Nissan, one of the items the dealer was directed to look at was the placement of the power steering line in relation to the coolant resovoir. Sure enough the line was resting firmly on the resvoir. They bent the line 1/8 inch off the resvoir and the sound disappeared in the cabin.
Still a very, very faint whine if I really listen hard with everything off, but well within what I would acceptable normal car sounds. If I wasn't specifically listening for the sound I wouldn't ever hear it. Time to start enjoying my car.
Thank you all for your posts on this subject. It was very helpful. Good luck.

Anyone else received the bracket fix?
I checked with my dealer 2 days ago and they said no new bracket yet.

I believe that most people will not notice this with the new bracket on post new bracket Altimas. Be patient and be assured that Nissan has a new bracket that will help in reducing the whine.
I am sure that Nissan will make this newly designed bracket available sometime in the near future.
Now you can tell your dealer that there is a problem with the power steering whine and back it up with a fix!
I experienced a whine the other day, although I'm not sure it is the same as the noise being discussed in the original post. It doesn't happen at low speeds (I tested it before with the radio off), and the sound is different than the one described. It's more of a faint, high pitched whirring buzz whenever I accelerated, and it happened at all speeds (more noticeable at higher RPM). The sound immediately reminded me of the sound the cars in The Jetsons made, but a more accurate description would be an RC toy car.
Is this normal? I only noticed it that one time because I was listening to talk radio instead of music, so it wouldn't bother me on most occasions, but it might become annoying on road trips when I might have the radio at a low volume.
I too have this noise, it sounds like a faint morse code tone. I can hear it when doing 20mph or less but as soon as the car comes to a stop the noise stops, you can even hear it doing 2mph. Pitch, rythem, loudness doesnt change with speed. I took it to dealer and mentioned about the line against the reservoir but i think they just didnt know what i was talking about and they said they couldnt hear it, next time i will show them a print out of this forum.
Just to add one more thing, when parked and i turn the steering wheel, i can hear the power steering electric assist motor very faintly and it sounds nothing like the morse code sound.
My second '13 Altima has a different p/s line support bracket than the first car. I could hear a faint variable whine in the first car but the one with the new bracket exhibits none of that.

I wonder if that is because they have designed a new bracket or if it is because it is a 3.5 instead of a 2.5.
Couldn't say for sure, Gerald, without examining some of the newer 2.5 cars on the dealer lot. The p/s line and routing look to be the same on both cars but I'm just operating from my (sometimes faulty) memory.
I just mentioned this as someone above stated that a new bracket was now being used to supress the noise. I'm assuming they mean the line support bracket that mounts near the firewall on the right side. The pump bracket looks to be the same as on my previous car.

I have a new 13 Altima with similar morse code whining noise and am new to this Forum noticing all your great detailed info and photos. What was the ultimate outcome - has your whining noise been fixed? If so how so I can discsuss with my dealership. thanks.
Mine is more like weeeeeeeeeeeeeee weeee weeeeeeeeeeeeee wee ........ It's higher pitch. You got the idea.
That's what mine sounds like too. I pointed it out to one passenger and it took them awhile to hear it. Then they said wow it's there all the time, once you hear it you can't stop hearing it.
I've been hoping some fix will be announced by Nissan, and I mentioned it at length in the survey they sent me concerning the quality of the car.
Sure you can turn on the radio and drown it out, but the car is sooo quiet otherwise, especially at low speeds when the tire noise is practically inaudible, that sometimes it is nice just to keep the radio off and enjoy the quiet. That's when the weeeee starts getting annoying!

I went in to dealership and took the mechanic for a test drive as soon as I explained him the sound he immediately got off and took the car in service area to show me the root cause. We didnt even go for a ride. It was a small metal clip in fron tires that was slightly loose. He showed it to me and fixed it in few minutes. I feel the sound is gone but will check soon. So get yours checked too
Growing Credit, Can you snap a pic or better describe the location and function of this "clip"? I have a metal on metal sound at low speeds and more noticable with acceleration. My dealer came up empty, I described your comment and he looked at me like i have to heads. Thanks in advance
