I've had the pass airbag light that is in the center of dash come on multiple times even with an adult sitting in the seat. It doesn't seem sensitive enough. If I shutoff car and start back up it goes off or if I drive for a while it eventually goes off. I know about the 8 second test cycle so this is not the problem. Pretty scary driving around with a adult passenger knowing their airbag is disabled for the time being. Any ideas?
I had the same problem the other night. Had the passenger move around in the seat to see if it would go out, but it didn't. I was able to fix the problem the same way that wnplt did. I'm going to call the dealership sometime this week to ask about it. If anybody finds out something first, please do share.

I have had the same thing with my SL model. I was thinking that that leather was more stiff than cloth and the person sitting there didn't sink down in the seat far enough to turn the light off. I am hoping when the leather streaches a bit it won't be a problem.. The only way to get mine to reset is turn the car off and restart the engine
Just out of curiosity, does anyone with fabric seat have this problem so far?
I did. Out of the several times that a passenger has been in the front seat, it has only happened once though. I talked to the local dealership today and I'm going to take it in the morning to let them have a look.
My 09 had this issue. The dealer swapped the lower seat cushion out for a new one since the sensor inside was malfunctioning. Wouldn't surprise me if it's the same issue. Your dealership should be able to take care of it for you.
Took mine to the dealership. They said that they preformed a function test and couldnt find any error codes, so they said that they couldn't do anything. They said that if it happens to bring it in ASAP if it happens again; they said that if there was an error code, that it must automatically cleared out after so many restarts.
Anybody still have a this problem? Trying to see if others happened during a similar scenario.
With mine, if the passenger goes to sit it the when the vehicle is being started or during a certain point when the self-test is being performed, it glitches and the passenger air bag off light stays on. If the passenger sits before the self-test or after the self-test, then all is normal. I think it may be an untested computer glitch.
I am having the same problem on my 2.5 SL. My son is 105 pounds and I had him jump up and down in the seat, but nothing. After about 5-10 minutes on the road, it turned off. I am going to try and trigger this and take it to the dealership when it happens.
