If you put on 4 steel wheels with snow tires and new TPMS sensors do you have to have the car reprogramed to recognise the new sensors or will the car pick up the new Nissan brand sensors automatically.

Second question if the car has to be reprogramed do you have to also reprogram when you rotate the tires from front to back or is this recognised automatically

I rotate the tires on my 2005 Nissan Frontier and the TPMS works fine so I am sure it remains the same with the Altima. I cannot answer your first question.

Though I'm just guessing, I can only imagine the location of each tire pressure is determined by which sensor is getting the reading. Not by which sender is where, so I don't think it matters where you rotate the tires or even what rims are on the car. Many tire shops replace the senders with new tires an don't have to reprogram anything.

Nissan hosted a live chat on facebook a little over two months back. I asked this exact question.

Their answer is that when you rotate it will automatically pick up the position of the wheels and provide readings from the correct wheel.
