Yeah, because a brand new buyer is surely going to have known that.

I don't know what xeene is trying to imply with his "this thread belongs in early 4th gen forum" comment, but a brand new buyer of a 2013 Altima would know what octane gas to get by reading the owner's manual... heck, I'm not even an owner yet, and I've already looked through the manual. (I heard my car's finally arrived... I'm planning on picking it up Monday

I am still using my first tank of gas from the dealer.........
After that, I think I will stick with 89.

Sorry to tell you, but xeene is right. You wouldn't look up specs on a 4 year old car and expect them to be exactly the same for the current model, would you?? Nissan retuned the 3.5 liter V6 in 2010 to run on 87 octane fuel, and it's been tuned to run on regular ever since. So since premium fuel has not been recommended for the V6 since 2009, octane rating is a moot point when you're discussing the 2013 model.

The Altima manual does not say to use only 1 octane rating.
It says AT LEAST the minimum.

Minimum is like the bottom of the barrell, just enough to get you by, ordering a salisbury steak in a steak restaurant, ...
I like to use midgrade 89.
Costco only sells 2, Regular and Premium.
No Middle grade.

new altimas won't benefit from running higher octane then 87. 2007-2009 models with 3.5 engine were recommended to run 91 octane due to higher compression ratings, not any longer.

so, lock the thread and stop confusing people with pointless subject unless you're rich and like wasting money but then you wouldn't be driving altima would you

why does this discussion have to keep coming up in every forum?

if its such a dilemma for you and your car is completely stock use what ur car is designed for and be done with it.

I personally have NEVER used anything less than 91/93 on any of my vehicles. i dont trust the cheap grade gas and my cars are never stock so i want to get the most performance as possible

id recommend 89 instead of 87 or premium. the premium is really unnecessary for your stock vehicles. and for 89, whats 10 cents more a gallon to keep your car running its best? if you fill up your car with at most 15 gallons thats only a $1.50 more. is that really breaking the bank?

jus my 2 cents

Those of you who don't own a '13 Altima need to chill out. Of course new owners/members are going to come here and ask "newbie" like questions. It's to be expected - if you don't like it, don't come into this section of the forum.
