Remote start... No heat?

When I turn on my factory installed remote start on my sv, the car starts but the heat does not turn on. After I put my foot on the break and push start, the heat kicks on at the level that*I had set it to the previous day.

IMHO this defeats the whole principal of remote starting to preheat. Am I missing something or a setting somewhere? I wanted to ask before I call the dealership. Thanks

This is almost irrelevant. The heat from the vent came from the engine heat. Altima has no electric ventilation block heater. In a cold day, it takes a few minutes after start before you can feel any warm air from the vent anyway. By doing remote start, you shortened that wait after you get in the car. More expensive luxury cars usually comes with assistant electric heater.

If you leave the heated seat on after stop, the remote start should get you a warm seat though.

Thanks for the response. I understand that the heat takes a few minutes to warm up. I was under the impression that by leaving the heat on the previous time in the car, that once I remote start the following time it will be back on.

I believe the heater should begin blowing air from the minute I remote start and continue until it reaches the previously sent temp. If that isnt the case, how does a car cool off using remote start on a hot day? Something isn't adding up!

If I recall correctly, it works at whatever strength/temp I set it to for the defroster. Haven't tested the other vents.

As for hot days... depending on the model you have, use the remote window feature then remote start. All the air that blows out for the first 5 minutes is going to be hot anyway.

Mine works like it should in my SV. If you dont set the heat/ac before shutting the car off, it wont work. For some reason the remote start does not allow temp control adjustments until break pedal and start button are pushed, but if I set it before getting out of the car, it is working when I remote start it the next morning.

The automatic climate control has a delay feature that keeps the heat from blowing until after the engine has started to get warm. Depending on how long your car was running, it could have still been on delay

I noticed that if I get in the car, start it, and adjust the temp to "90", that the fan doesn't increase until the engine generates enough heat. I'm guessing that the logic is setup that way so that it's not blowing cold air on the passengers.

Before existing the car for the night, set the temp to 90. Depending on the temperature, it may take several minutes after starting it remotely before the fan speed increases.
