Remote starter question is this normal?

I remote started my car, and it ran for 10 mins and shut off itself.
Then when I realized it stopped (I was next to car shoveling snow)
I remote started the car again, let car run for 5 more mins, then shut car off with the remote, and went inside house.
2 hours later I wanted to remote start the car and it would not let me remote start it.
I walked out to the car got inside and manually started the car.

Shut off car, went into the house and tried the remote starter and it worked.
I then thought does this remote starter only work 2 times in a row?
To find out I remote shut off the car. (First on and off remote cycle)
Then remote started car again and remote shut off car (second cycle)
Tried remote start again and it will not remote start.
Tried both remotes and only way to get the remote starter to work is manually cycling the car off an on while sitting inside the car

Is this normal?

Remote start works 2 times then the car must be started in order to reset.
In other words, your remote start is functioning properly. Hope this helps.

As stated by NVNJ, this is normal.

Why there is a 2 time limit, I don't know.

altimasl13,

I direct your attention to the seldom read 2013 Nissan Altima Owner’s manual:

Pre-driving checks and adjustments 3-25 and 3-26

REMOTE STARTING THE VEHICLE

Your questions are answered on these two pages.

I understand that the Owner’s manual has a plethora of useful information, but only if it is read. Otherwise, it just takes up space in your glove box.

Owner’s Manual like parachute, only work when opened.

Your remote start is functioning exactly as designed. For safety reason, all factory remote starter would have a maximum time and maximum repeated starts. The reason is obvious. If you parked your vehicle at home in the garage, remote started your car and forgot, the carbon monoxide build up could kill you if the car don't automatically stop after a short time.

Once started you can add 10 minutes of run time by repeating the remote button pressing process. I dont know when you would ever need your car to run 20 minutes before getting in...
