Xenon = HID I believe.
What's involved with changeing the headlight bulbs to sylvania?

d_cleve, which 2013 Altima did you get? 2.5? 3.5? SV, SL...?? To my knowledge, the only trim level that comes with HID lights is the 3.5 SL. All other models are standard halogen bulbs.

*EDIT*
But one can easily convert their car to HID lights for approximately $100. I did, and it made a huge difference in improved visibility.

Installed a set of Silverstar ZXE's in my headlights last night. The difference is a huge improvement over stock. No more yellow light, and much brighter. They arent as bright as HID's, but they do have a look of an HID, clean white light and just a hint of blue around the edges of the beam. Ill be putting another set in the foglights next week.

I know it sounds a bit paranoid but any thoughts on whether this invalidates factory warranty? I'm guessing if I ask the dealer service dept. they will say don't do it. I like SilverStar bulbs.

Changing your headlight bulb won't void your warranty.

If there is any kind of failure or damage that can be traced back to a mod, then maybe. But a simple bulb replacement? I'd say you're safe.

I saw this little excerpt on edmunds:
Quote:
The saving grace for consumers is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The act states that a dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage.

However, if the reason for a parts failure is unclear, a dealer will usually charge you to diagnose the vehicle. If the aftermarket part was not properly installed or a modification led to a component failure, it is within the dealer's right to void the warranty for that part, and you will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket. If the aftermarket parts had nothing to do with the repairs in question, you will be refunded the fee for the diagnosis.

Which of the H11 silverstar did you use ultra high performance or just the high performance and will the H11 be ok in the fog lights the same bulb you use for the low beam?

It's sucks that we can't access the headlight bulbs from the hood. Turn the wheel. Remove clips etc is silly.

The fog lights are the same bulb type as the lows (as well as highs).
