It seems reasonable that Nissan would discourage employees from participating in forums like this. They want to have one voice that comes from corporate.
Maybe the employees come and post to give us some news but then realize they will get flooded with requests, so better to back off.
I would guess that LMK5 is closest to the truth. Go back through this thread and look at how many questions have been asked and we were told not to ask questions. I am also sure that Nissan would not approve of their employees speaking out about the problems and their solutions before Nissan has addressed them.
As with any big companies, employees are bound by communications policies.
If one were to understand that, then one would know that all the questions asked by forum members should remained unanswered and the only thing the "employee" will be allowed to do is probably status updates and explanation only to the extent of what corporate will allow.
Sure seems strange, he is the second purported Nissan Tech who has posted here a couple of times then disappeared. Are we scaring them off?
I am sure Nissan corporate is telling employees not to post here, as they are not officially designated to speak for the company. Most companies like to strictly control communications with the public.
How would Nissan Corporate know if they were posting here? Unless they were monitoring this forum - In which case THEY should be giving us some information!
They monitor this, and many other forums. When I called corporate on my issues they were aware of others with the same issues as me, but referred to the forums as only being people with negative experiences. The guy even later told me he read what I wrote and would make sure the dealer addressed it...
So yes, they read, and no they won't reply. We are lucky to get some one off guys posting here, but you'll probably never see corporate replying to the complaints.
As much as I would love to believe its the belt and tensioner that is causing the NVH issue I like others have stated doubt that's the cause.
May that be a temp fix, sure, but I don't think that will correct the problem overall.
The issue is being caused from the load at such a low RPM and in my opinion the only way to correct the issue would be to remap the CVT programming.
If Nissan would just decide to allow the owners that wanted the remapping done to come in and do so it would be great.
That does not mean that those that do not want to risk taking a MPG hit have to have the remap done, they can make it completely voluntary.
I now have 1,134 miles on my SL and I'm pretty much used to the NVH now and because I'm past the break in period and am driving more like myself, I don't experience the NVH all that much.
I will say that it has stayed the same and hasn't gotten any worse(knocks on wood), so as long as that stays consistent it won't bother me "too" much.
Overall I still love my car and strongly recommend it to others.
Guess well just have to see what Nissan decides to roll out by way of fixes coming soon.

The only reason i think it could be the belt tensioner is when i first got the car it did not act like it is now.... it ran fine.
Apparently parts for even now the "temporary fix" are on backorder, as my customer service agent told me. I am talking to her today and will let you know more as I know it.

I'm not suggesting that corporate respond directly to individual complaints. But they should give some general guidance on what issues are being addressed by the engineers. Ford (and others) have quickly acknowledged issues (1.6 turbo engine for example) and said that fixes would be forthcoming - and they made good on the promise.
If you google "2013 Altima problems" you get a whole slew of the posts in this forum. Rest assured many people, every day, do exactly that before making a purchase decision. Nissan needs to understand the importance of being responsive to persistent customer complaints. Their continued silence just makes current owners angry and turns off potential buyers.
Well i am at the point were i am trading my Altima in for a 2012 Maxima,, do not want to do this since it will cost me more a month plus the money i have alredy paid for the altima... but with the cvt or belt problem my mirrors rattling i just dont want this headache an worry what else is going to go wrong... this is my third nissan that i owned ... first with problems like this..

you are so correct if they would reprogram the CVT it wouldn't make much difference in highway driving because you will not be taking off from a dead stop, just city driving and maybe lose 1.5 to 2 mpg at most.
