P R N D Ds on the gearshift light up at night?

Can someone tell me if on your gearshift, the P R N D Ds light up at night? I just noticed ours is dark and unlit in our 2.5SL w/tech

It does light up at night in mine when you turn on the headlights or if you put the headlights on auto. Have you checked the dashboard brightness adjustment on the driver side?

Mine works like this also but what I do notice is there is no color indicator to tell which gear you are in. On my old sentra the gear selected would light up when moving the shifter but on my altima SV it is only shown on the dash. Is this how yours works also?

It does light up. It's tied into the brightness of the dash lights. IMO the gearshift lights seem to be a tad bit darker than the current dash light settings regardless of how bright.

Yeah mine works the same. I believe most of the cars nowadays don't change colors or highlight when you shift the lever. I have 06 Murano and it shows only on dash. Though some kind of notification would have been nice for sure but I am used to it now!

The notification is one the dash. In addition, it's not that hard IMO to line up the gear shift and the letter that it's next to.

Changing the brightness of the gauges does not make the gear shift position indicators come on, on the center console next to the gear shift itself.

Then there's a wire that's loose somewhere. Mine does brighten/dim with the gauges. Have your dealer check it.

Great, so some light up, some don't. Another stupid Altima issue.

There was a connector unplugged, so it's working now. It indeed lights up.

I don't think mine light up, if they do, I haven't noticed, I'll check tonight. Also, staying on the topic of lights, has anyone figured out how to swap out the light bulb above that compartment where the USB slot is?

When it gets warmer here I plan to poke around and figure that out.
